Fantastic

Post by tonyveal »

I have applied smoother tracks and can only say the transformation has been quite amazing. Very well done. :D :D

Also, I am using the SCOTTRAX texture replacement on all routes and combined with the above it is as if everything has been written in finescale! :D :D

My two exceptions are
a Thaxted (that is in Finescale , so have obviously left alone)
b LBE (Because of 3rd rail)

Questions - To complete the transformation
1 Is there a good replacement 3rd rail Texture set which I could use with LBE? The originals are very blocky, like the default MSTS textures.

2 Are there any replacement textures which are of the same incredible standard as the original SCOTTRAX, but less grey? They grey trackbed looks very good, but is not entirely appropriate for all of the routes I have installed on. Something more akin the the paler brown would be better.

For now I will live with the grey because of the overal incredible improvement. :D :D :D :D

Again, very well done. For me, This has breathed new life into MSTS.

Now .... If only the core 3D engine could be "breathed on" to take advantage of todays greatly improved graphics cards (I have a 256mb FX5900) which still struggles to give good frame rates at times even with a 3200 chip on the mainboard, then MSTS would probably keep us all happy for years to come

Tony

I am glad you like the track changes. I think Mark Hyams has done a great job on the smoother shape replacements.
I am currently working on a Scottrax2 which has better sleeper spacing to suit UK tracks, a browner cast to the ballast and slightly darker sleepers.
What do you think?

That is very good, a complete transformation, it gives me the urge to go and find my Msts discs.

Thanks for all the comments.

Just to clarify - Smoother Tracks (File ID:9848) is replacement shape files by Mark Hyams to produce better curves on MSTS track - I just uploaded it to UKTS with Mark's permission.

Scottrax (File ID:9694) is simply replacement track texture, and both these items can be used together or seperately.

That is an absolutely brilliant texture. I don't suppose some kind soul would make up some checkrail models to be manually dropped over pointwork and crossovers in RE to give them that final extra bit of realism?
