Hi Simon

I meant the Route of the Foxfield, which the Mainline dosen't really count as. However your track diagrams were very useful, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to mail you the version of the route with the yard at Blythe Bridge, which I will rectify when I get the route back from you.

Chris here is another diesel orientated shot for you, this one was a test activity with a Cravens unit passing on the Up road, frame rate was 23 at Blythe with the DMU passing.

ooh excellent , well as i say any photos of the coillery site will be very welcome, the old engine shed would be a good building to get a pic of, and obviously the two headgears, basically just as much as you can get good pictures of, i take it the screens are long gone from the pics ive seen so far, which is a shame as its that side of the 'triangle' of lines that i'm most at a loss to picture wise.

Hi

That pics looks great Simon, good to hear that framerates aren't too bad. (I've only got a 1ghz, but the route seems fine along most of it, apart from blythe bridge. I'm hoping that Gordon will send me over some of the trees in his Bala Hub shots.)

Wookey, I have a few more shots of the colliery, but there pre-modernisation, so things in them have to be taken with a pinch of Salt. Would you like them? More photos of the colliery would be of help, I most definately agree - can anyone help?

um yea sure chris, any pics are helpful, and tbh i mean the colliery when finished will have to be taken with a small pinch of salt, just due to the complexity of it, so yes please any pics at all are helpful :)

Hi Dan

They look superb, can I suggest though that the screens are lowered so that they are only 5 inchs or so above the top of the wagons, it will hide the fact that nothing is going in to the wagons, and of course in NCB days only mineral wagons were used not hoppers. Cant wait for more pics :D (I think Jan de Jong has found a site for me which I didn't send you a link: http://www.mining-europe.de/gallery/west/foxfield.htm ) I've e-mailed you a photo of the site, and the screens are level with the bridge.

Those screens look superb Dan and would be a worthy addition to uktrainsim, I say this as I've got a few collierys on my route and so has Don on CC4.

Well cheers for saying so Thames, :). urm well if thats the feeling then when i've textured/built up more of the collection i'll upload them m8, would be nice to see other uses being made of them aswell :)

Chris, cheers for the e-mail, that top picture is just what i needed :D one question for you , urm, the boiler plant,
do you know if the boilers were placed externally as the map seems to suggest? or inside a building?
also, now i know that locos could not run through the screens, does anyone know what the train movements were concerning incoming/outgoing traffic, just curious, wondering what the triangle layout was for :)

When Foxfield was in use, the exchange sidings and loops were nearly buried in coal dust. If you dig down on the site now you hit black dust only a few inches under the soil. When I was a volunteer we had to get some stored sleepers from down there and had to put new chocks in the track which involved digging down to the chairs. We hit coal dust before the chair! ( gives you some idea how buried things were...)
Cheers
