Hi Andy,

Not much progress on the K&ESR (the paint shed doors now open and close, but that's about it)
I can supply any drawings you need, but first, lets get those wagons right! no point in having an O1 if there is nothing to pull ;)

I would recommend getting the latest 3D Canvas and the updated set of my plugins.

Can you remember what needed to be done to the wagon I was working on? Also the coulours didnt show right in the sim. I should download shape viewer thinghy and use that rather than load the sim each time. I mite try and do the waon thisafter noon, then if you could send me a drawing I could start another, I havnt got an exam till monday so Ive got time. (tho mums just walked inand said I should do an hour of revision!)

Cheers

Great model Paul,

Did you have any difficulty lining up the eccentrics to the axle when animating the inside Stephenson valve-gear?

No trouble Dan. They are in the same group as the eccentric rod which is just offset from the wheel group.

My animator plugin for 3D canvas automatically and accurately generates the animations in a few seconds.
With the drive rods and pistons there are about 15 animated groups on the model, using 16 frame animation (only 2 were done manually)

Ah, I was forgeting your plug-in for 3D Canvas. I'm still thinking in gMax mode

Is this the first British trainsim model with inside valve gear animation? If so; well done!

not the first by a long way... several locos on the Skipton route have it and I think Mike Wilson did it for one of his locos too.

That engine really is looking great! :D

Only 8500 polygons? Cripes! I think I have gone a bit o.t.t. here...

Is 428 too high for a chimney?

That's looking superb Paul. When are you going to start selling your stuff commercially, people would fight each other to buy it.

If the cab is better than all that valve detail between the frames it must be a work of art indeed.

Thanks to Andys photos, I have enough detail to do a fully modelled cab which hopefully will be animated and usable in TMTS (next year???)
In the mean time, I can use 3DC to build a raytraced version for an MSTS cabview.

I just have to do a bit of sound recording during my driver training on monday, finish off the secr wagons and coaches and we'll have a set!
I'll probably also do the SR (black) and BR liveries.

Just needs someone to build an SECR line (Hawkhurst/paddock wood/Medway towns would be nice)

Nice! If i were up to route building I would have a go at Paddock Wood- Maidstone West, could do a semi fictional version.
