You've obviously not seen half the models on UKTS then ;). What about Marks 37's? Kims 9f's? Chris Baily's diesels?

Nice models

- except for the standard steam, that looks awful. Very poor modelling of wheels and rods and flat textures. There are better ones on t-s.com :)

I must say that first diesel shunter is pretty impressive, but it's not British - so I don't like it!

The quality of UK models is absolutley fantastic in my opinion. We are very lucky that people with the necessary skill that are ready to freely give up their time to produce quality models for other people without charging them for it. In my opinion criticising freeware models like this is wrong.

There nice models but there not outstanding i think some of Decapods newer models are better than those as well as the locos from payware products such as the SVR. I think a main differnce is in the texturing some of the textures on the uk stuuf is not as good as other countrys.

Nice models and some excellent texturing too, not sure about the wheels on 98 009 though, someones been a bit too hard with the braking and will be having a bumpy ride home ;)

The models may look pretty but how efficient are they in the sim? Polygon count? LoDs? What are the physics and sounds like? Cabs?

The look of the thing on your screen is only a part of the story.

Generally there is good and bad from every country's modellers, statistically that has to be true. Place a Duckweed Black5 or a Robin Howell King or a Decapod Aberdare or a Tim Court Class86 in that list and these all comapre favourably - and I think our sounds and physics are top notch, in many cases.

Funnily enough I also think UK wheels are a strong point, European modellers seem to enjoy running their trains on 50p pieces and the Americans haven't discovered flanges yet.(*)

(*) gross generalisations in order to make a point so don't stamp on my head.

:o Hi Jon so whats the problem .

Re - ukts file id 7825

D5718, Metrovick Co-Bo,in plain green.Produced by Steve in Ozz back in 2001 and now uploaded to UKTrainsim with his kind permission.

Tweaks to the .eng file by Jon Bilton.

According to Steve: "This Loco has been uploaded only because of ukts forum requests. It is a fairly crude model by today's standards." It's still a very useful piece of kit though, and thanks go to Steve for his permission to put it in the library.

Hey Jon

thanks for getting my rather poor example of a class 28 uploaded .

No Flame war its just a fact

Very Funny stuff in the concept of this thread
