Good to hear you are using real gradients, cant wait for your route :D
Also, apparently barrymcguire's (sorry if I've spelt the name wrong) route dosen't have accurate gradients, although I don't think it uses DEM data.

(on second thoughts, when I said WCML I meant Crewe-Euston  )
You love gradients and DEM dont you. I agree that DEM makes a route 10x better with the terrain looking alot better, but gradients arent really that important to me. on most route, gradients is just pieces of track jolting up and down, which im not too keen on. Just aslong as the route is nice to drive along with nice secenery and also long route are a personal prefrence. :) Also many brnachlines and any other lines for AI traffic also make a route alot more fun :)

Hi

I'm sorry if what I like offends you, but I am sure that many people will agree with me, especially people who run steam, that having gradients is one of the points of driving, you have to be able to drie your train within the speed limits, and stop at the appropriate places. If everywhere is flat, then it becomes a bit monotonous, you may as well have a AI driver. Anyway, do you really think that a route over shap, or the West Highland Line, would be just as good if made with no gradients? Some people on this forum actually like realism, something which you're 'routes' have shown you have no interest in. ( )

Merseyside Railways - Version 3

Post by ccsdc »

Time for an update on progress

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... eedon1.jpg">]

A Class 86 heads south towards Euston alongside the M1 just north of Weedon (or in Motorway speak just south of Watford Gap Services).

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... eedon2.jpg">]

Another view heading south with the M1 to the left.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... eedon4.jpg">]

Alongside the Grand Union Canal.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... eedon5.jpg">]

Storming south through Weedon station.

I have just noticed that I have left the telegraph poles in on the electrified version - this cannot happen on the release version. I have to have both OHLE and telegraph poles displayed when working in the RE to see if there are any clashes with other scenery objects.

Overall progress: Crewe to Euston

Track and signals 100%
Stations 100%
Bridges 100%
Scenery complete MP 156 to MP 53 on the main line and about 50% complete on the Northampton loop.

Still aiming for the end of May, may overshoot by a week or two but should be pretty close.

Ouch, scenery will be a problem with the object count then. Will be great if you can make it look dense, but I have a feeling it could be real hard.

Looking good, Its time to dust off those luvly green livery class 47's i have in store and the era of the route will suit the green class 47's very well. Whichever format the route comes out on (CD or download) this route is on my "wanted" list because the default S&C Line is getting boring now and i want some NOSTALGIA :D :D :D  . Good work indeed :). I can't wait for this to be released :D. Today i will be driving along the real route with ews :). Though its a bit different now as the likes or virgin, ews, silverlink and the like didn't exist back then :). But i am excited about this route :).

cheers

A last the WCML is nearly there - looking good. I suggest a new name for the route is required 'Merseyside Railways' is hardly appropriate for a route containing Northampton and London Euston!
