Thanks Barry, I have been keeping an eye on your impressive progress to date. From what I have seen your version of the WCML will be very much modern day, compared to mine which is based in the early to mid 1960's.

I think that these routes compliment each other rather than compete, and yours is also going to include other areas that mine is not, so keep up the good work.

I see that you are based on Merseyside. I am obviously an Ex Merseysider, now living on the South Coast, but my heart is still very much in the North West when it comes to railways.
Thanks!!! :D!! mine's very much based on the Virgin West Coast era, used 1999-2001 sectional appendix for it, also another common link between us, chances are that our father's know each other!! mine's been a driver (Dave McGuire) since about 1990 at Lime St, guard for many years before that - and I've worked at Lime St off and on since leaving school in 1989 (still do!!).

anyway, looking forward to getting your latest version of Mersey (have all the previous!!).

All the best!!

Barry,

Yes, there is a fair chance that our Dads do know each other - mine was a traction inspector based at Lime Street from about 1982 until 1994, when he retired after 49 Years and 6 Months on the railway.

I shall be speaking to him later today and I shall ask him if he knows your Dad.

Some shots from the Rugby area.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... Rugby2.jpg">]

46233 Duchess of Sutherland departs on an up train from Rugby as a black 5 waits to depart from the bay with a local train via the Northampton loop.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... Rugby6.jpg">]

46233 Duchess of Sutherland passes Rugby No.1 box as a B1 passes on the GC bound for Leicester Central.

A view from Rugby Midland station back towards Rugby MPD.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/26013/TV Junction2.jpg">]

Trent Valley Junction looking North. A class 81 hauling a train of vans is signalled to take the Birmingham line, while a class 86 comes off the Birmingham flyover with a southbound express. Jubilee No.5693 Agamemnon approaches from the Trent valley route. The line on the left is the former branch to Leamington Spa, which now remains to serve the cement factory (I think).

These screen shots only show a brief glimpse of the station. It is there I assure you - I shall try to post some more shots inside the station canopy. :fadein:

Some more shots from the north end of Rugby station.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... Rugby7.jpg">]

A black 5 stops at Rugby with a down stopping train.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... Rugby9.jpg">]

A black 5 departs from Rugby with a down stopping train. A class 304 EMU waits in the bay. I have only just realised how bad the "mind the gap" platforms are. I will try and address this before release of version 3.

[<IMG width="640" height="480" SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic ... ugby11.jpg">]

A black 5 passes Rugby No.4 box with a down stopping train. Another member of the class waits for the rightaway from the goods loop with a down train of vans.

Hi

The screenshots look great. Keep up the good work on an excellent route. Will the line via Coventry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton be included?

Hi
This route just gets better and better...quite astounding. :D :D
You really seem able to capture the era beautifully.
The downside is unfortunately...completly outshines the available stock.
Since my reinstall....I think I have one UK steam loco....my lastest additions have been some German built Italian locos...supurb....we are so behined the rest of the world .

Not in the initial release of version 3, but it is an obvious extension to the route for the future.

Matt,

I am aiming for the end of May for release. I have finished all the trackwork, stations, signals and other rail related work, really just the scenery and roads to do now. I say "just", but it is 180 route miles from Crewe to Euston including the Northampton loop.
