Hi Matt
I apreciate your shots. It made my mouth water. One of these days, I'll buy the Cambrian and the Severn Valley.
Once more some months, and surely I'll become a real fanatic of Brit railways.

Nice shots, Although many GWR practices by the BR days were no longer observed it was customary whenever possible for the senior loco when double heading to be on the front.

Hey, im guessing they're nice screenies, but for some reason I cant see them. Only a few of the screenshots appear "half loaded" and a few of them dont even appear at all. I click on them to enlarge, they load up and then when they're completly loaded it goes onto a search website, saying that "the page cannot dislpayed". Anyone got any ideas why its doing it?

I was going to say that, otherwise great shots. I am not sure that the Cambrian Coast line was ever double red but it looks great.

??????????????????????? Manors were the largest allowed here.

I did not know that Kings were not allowed.
I put the King on because i think it is a great loco to go with 7802.
Were Halls and Castles allowed?

I am not sure but I think thje highest axle rating would have been blue but I suspect much of it would have been yellow or even not classified. Hence why manors and the like were the biggest locos. But what the hey its a good route to run anything GWR. I prefer Gordon's BALA route though as ts trackwork comes from pre WW2 mostly which means that Barmouth junction etc is in its full glory.

The Cambrain Line was always classified blue, hense nearly all the the Manors being transfered here towards the end of BR, and the use of them on the Cambrain Express west of Shewsbury. The main reason for the restriction was originally the Barmouth Bridge, although subsquent maintaince ment that the whole line became relatively fraglie quite quickly.
Today the situation is even worse, with locomotives being banned from passing over Barmouth Bridge since the mid 1990s. Hense there has been no steam tours in the area since around about 1994. However, resent work by railtrack and tests with class 37s have ment that this restriction *may* be lifted in the near future.
We can but hope anyway....
Either way with its double red classification, Kings would have certainly never have been permitted here.
Castles and Halls were both classification red, so again were banned.
Motive Power in the area was mainly Manors, Standard 4mt 4-6-0s (come on Robin
), and Ivatt 2mt 2-6-0s . Also Dukedogs were very common, and a number of early GWR outside framers ended there days here.

Hi Bruce B
Having just looked at the Mainline schedule for Spring
i see that 7802 Bradley Manor maybe running from Shrewsbury to
Aberystwyth on the Saturday and to Tywyn on the Sunday,if you go
to the Past time rail website you will see the trips on there.Perhaps
in the future Bluearrow may organise a railtour over this route
Still you can't beat the real thing.
Hang on stop the dates are sat 20 march and Sunday 21st march
I believe now that the sat trip is now fully booked,better get booking heh.
