Class 450 - High Resolution 4 car image/ desktop background

Hiya!

Thought I'd post a desktop background/big screeny on here to show of the detail on the class 450 units! Hope all is good with everyone and that your all ok.

Okay, first things first. The unit above is in its final stages of production. I currently have about 20% of the textures completed and everything else is running smoothly. I'm getting everything done to perfection at the mo - its just to bigger project to rush! I don't want to get it wrong. The train is being created using my secret weapon and is being constantly backed up in 3DS format files so that they can pertentually be exported to any program including GMAX. When I feel the modelling is complete, I will move the files into GMAX, place the pivot points and some of the textures on and place the train in to msts - that'll be the first beta.

I hope you like the above pictures - I've had some questions fired at me regarding the poly count. I can appreciate the concern and I can assure you that If the train runs slowly on my 2000mhz pc, I'll reduce the count until it runs smoothly. There may well be 3 versions of this train released to cater for all pc specifications. So no worries there!! :)

cheers! :D

Any chance of building the diesel version (no corridor end doors) that transpennine xpress will use in about 2 years?? Will be designated class 185 by the way :)

Thanks,

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys!
Hmm, the class 185 sounds really nice - lets take it one step at a time. Once I get this one off the ground, who knows what will happen :)

Thats because there 'was' a £10k reward offered over the internet, for the first person to do a decent spray job on them. It got done at woking awhile ago and the BTP were called because the paint was still wet, i should imagine it was peeling by the time they turned up!
So i dont know if they are still listed as targets.
I remember 2 x 375's were done very badly in Gatwick sidings early in the year, they had to have their bodywork treated in the end.

class 450 are surprisingly very very nice trains!
Kinda like an updated 442....
I see the 3:45 to Alton nearly every day!
That is now always served by 450's
450019, 450025 and 450029

They are the only units that i see around the Aldershot area and they are always together!

Thanks

Matthew

P.S they also look very smart in the new SWT livery 8)
Regards
Matt

I would suggest that its not big and clever to vandalise anything.
And if you think that it is just because you find the objects not very interesting then thats not overly adult way of looking at things.

I assume you can justify your reasons for that?

Quite how you think that vandalising rolling stock worth over 1.5 million a coach is a good thing i don't know.

New roling stock needs to be induced, whatever your opinion on the matter is. Mark one stock is in need of replacement and this has been duly noted for a while. For every unit that is defaced more than just the cleaning cost is lost, you can be sure that the image of the company is lost through the sight of it, and if a newer unit is unable to fulfill the rostered timetable the company will lose a reperatable image when a older unit is seen out running. Bearing in mind that the newer units are more vinal than paint, specialist cleaning material is needed to clean it, or as is becoming the case the vinals are replaced. Alot of money is ploghed into training drivers, depot staff, conductors, cleaners, supervisors, platorm managers and dispatchers to allow the induction of these units to go smoothly and when a unit is defaced the turnaround times of a unit is increased and extra labour is required to work.

Whatever way you look at it the new units are here to stay, depot staff are becoming knowledgable to their faults and are finding easyier techniques to do repairs. Passangers are safer, the units are modular and parts can be replaced with ease. Part's arn't unique to certain units, mass production of parts can be done and delivered on site and just placed inside the unit.

The old stock as much as it simpler to maintain and has far much more leg room for the longer than avarage passanger is not any of the above.

In future Mr RAA i would consider your attitude and responce to the railway system, it has to function to the generation and as such units age and die like humans. Next time you find it funny that a unit is defaced, think about the impact it has upon the general Public, and the reaction the cleaners will have at the thought that they need to spend hours doing EXTRA work that puts the turnaround schedual out of sync.
