A miniature activity at Kidda

Post by gopher »

And this is what I've been up to tonight. Been around to a friends trying to get the SVR running a bit faster on his lowly Pentium. He won't take my advice and buy a new computer :) Managed to get it running a bit faster by tweaking some ingame graphics.
After a little twiddling in the RE and Shape File Manager I came up with this. I've been toying (no pun) with a miniature railway in the Bala Hub for the last couple of weeks so stuck one in at Kidda. Ok, I know it's sunk in the rails a bit but thats easily fixed.

 nice one - we really did think about this for the route but decided to leave it out and just represent it, also the model railway at hampton loade was also thought about- Glad someone did it though!

Super!

How did you get the smoke plume so small Gordon? The truescale NG boys always moan that their little engines make too much smoke so your 5" gauge engine must have something clever done to it.

Hi All.

Ive been working on a miniture railway to! Havnt got as far as you, only started last night! Im a fan of 5" gauage and am currently rebuilding a "Butch" tank loco, (my mates think its a bit odd as im only 16) and building a wagon aswell. I have constructed a bogie trolley, for the standard guage track. When I have finished it I could email it to you and using SFM shrink it down and use it. Can you tell me how you did it or even better release the files? I would love to build a miniture railway route in say a garden or park. Would be interesting.

Thanks

Andy

It would only take a few minutes in a modelling prog Martin to produce some simple stock. No need for revolving wheels or anything and just give them an eng\wag file.

Arn't Robins coaches fantastic. I can see them on an excursion to Rhyl pretty soon.

It's no big deal to do if you are going to do a patch for the SVR and Terry would find Hampton easy, just use a spline path for the models to run along. By the way Terry the ploughing is just fantastic. Still can't find your gardening website Mr Titchmarsh Sir. :D

Andy I just used SFM as you said then made some adjustments to the eng file as stated above for the smoke otherwise you can't see the loco in the fog. If you have any problems just PM me. You will need miniature track of course.

Jonatan just use Shape File Manager to scale to whatever size you want.

Oops, always remember to rescale your stock. The couplings will never take the strain :D

mini rlys  I like it :D

hmm...let's do a route that is actually a little "live steam club" and run around "models" of the Flying Scotsman and GWR Castles for the pleasure of it all

...you must tell me how you managed to make track that small...and the stock that small

Where can I get the miniature track and SFM? I'm planning on adding a live steam train in my backyard on my customized route, LOL.

As for people riding on the train, use the FreightAnim tag and add a 3D person.

Shape File Manager is available on the Highworth site http://www.highworth.freeuk.com/ under Utilities. Use that to resize objects.
