I was at the front on both the out and back trip but didn't do any filming. I was on a slightly later one back that I expect most people were anyway as I was quite a way from the station watching the show and just missed one train. The one I caught was actually quite quiet, but I think was the one that had it been the 306 would have run to Liverpool St as we got put into the wrong platform at Manningtree, blocking up the GE line until it reversed out and shunted into the bay. This meant that the next FGE train was delayed and was also very busy meaning I had to stand all the way in a very bumpy 321 motor coach.Riche wrote: I was at the thing going to the boat show too. Why would the steam special have affected the 306? There is a fast and a slow line there.
The steam special was running from Liverpool St to Norwich and back twice over what I think was the May Day bank holiday weekend, once on saturday when I went down and once on the monday. FGE decided it would be a good time to give the 306 a run so it did Liverpool St - Shenfields on the saturday and a different run on the monday (southminster i think). Can't remember if their was any significants to the steam special although I don't think they get into Liverpool St that much. Interestingly after a few runs on the 306 I used my LT day pass to do Romford - Upmister then tried for a c2c 312 into London bvut eventually gave up and got an Electrostar, then did some SR slammers. Anyway I rished bck to Liverpool St in time to see the steam special arrive then, heres the really interesting bit, stood for nearly an hour on the platform where the steam special was waiting for a loco to come and drag it back to Ilford, and suprisingly didn't get any security staff or BTP bothering me.
