Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway - Wonderful Route

Post by CrisGer »

I am very much enjoying Cllive's superb Somerset & Dorset Route and wanted to presume to post some pictures of it and invite others to do the same if they wish. So many wonderful things to discover and such a sense of realism and immersion driving this fine route... thank you Clive very much..and thanks to all who have created the amazing equipment, and scenery elements.

Hi Chris,
They are some great screenshots :D
I particularly like the smoke effects - they are surely not default, are they?

Cheers,

Hi Ged

Thanks, it is a remarkable route to study and drive, and joins the growing list of master level routes we now have for MSTS, many of them from the UK community and certainly the UK routes are among the very best..and this is one of them....

that is Trusmok, a large ACE replacement for the main smoke file that was created from actual smoke images, created by Harold Clitheroe, and available here from the Train Sim Library, Harold has offered this to the community freely but reserves copyright and asks no changes without contacting him..

http://www.trainsim.com/kdl.php?fid=19965
MSTS Truesmoke - an enhanced steam locomotiove texture.
This file is Freeware, with modification and re-distribution restrictions.

After a long hiatus from MSTS content creation, I have decided to get my hand back in the
game. Retirement from railroading with CPR (34 years worth) has given me time to get back into MSTS, as it were.

This texture was created using a series of photographs taken from CPR 2816 in various locations and
conditions of load. They were massaged to fit with modified dual alpha channels as per the MS/Kuju
original formats. The effect is pseudo-3d at times.

This texture is copyright H.Clitheroe, Dec 2007, and may not be modified or re-distributed without
written permission.

Comments and/or suggestions are always welcomed. email me at hacmsts [at] shaw.ca

It is one of the very best smoke replacement ACE files I have found, and I keep testing any that I find. There is a file set to create extra smoke that is found on the Russian and Czech sites for MSTS but i have not had a chance to test it yet.
