Some shots of KLW paint shops and previews of some locos

Post by Hymek »

I finally remembered to take my digital camera into the works today just to show you how things are coming on, It was a busy day so i only have 2 shots
Image
This was taken in the cherry picker (usually used for painting roofs. here you can see 07 001 pushing into the storage shed 50 035 which is in for an obverhaul and 37 042 in for some adjustments to the code boxes and almost complete. In the far lane is 08 375 waiting to push 20 137 and 47 105 into the shed. 20 137 is in the process of being turned into railfreight livery and 47 105 is waiting to be painted up.
Image and the last shot is me leaning out of the 07 in the shed with both doors open with a close up of the 08, 37 and the 20

RF 20 looks nice, will it be named? Worked with 20118 most of the time when it worked my local line. Anyway think thats enough hints dropped :P Maybe i should take the plunge and build the boulby potash line to run it on.

the simple answer is when i have some spare time. Ive got a number of small jobs to do
> Change 37 042 headcode because it comes out the opposite way on the back
> Try and add the plauque thing to 50 035

I shall then be trying to solve a problem with the large logo on the left side of the loco if you are sitting in the cab looking down the nose.

Then i will be producing 47 105 to go along with 37 324 clydebridge that tims producing so people can have a gloucester & warwickshire double header.

thank god its nearly the end of school term

When the engines were based at Thornaby they were both named. 20137 was Murray B Hoffmeyr 20118 was named Saltburn by the Sea. Both carried red stripe Livery with Thornaby Kingfishers. nameplates were mounted on the solebar at the nose ends. Thanks for taking the time to do this, When i can get my head round the route builder and do my own reskinning i will return the favour. I'll send a couple of pics 2 help you out.

Just to go slightly off topic, does anyone know who made that depot building and what route it is on?
I urgently need a shed like that more my route before it gets uploaded. Was thinking of modifying a warehouse but don't really have the time now.

20118 is preserved on the South Devon Railway, and is in railfreight livery with the "Saltburn by the Sea" namplates applied etc, go to http://www.southdevonrailway.org for pictures.

Update - 03/12/02 13:15 Official Press Statement

Due to some unforseen surcumstances the Railfreight class 20s (20 137 & 20 118) have been withdrawn from the overhaul due to a build defect, and will be restarted If/when it has been rectified

47 105 has been painted and will be put through a test today or wednesday and perimission pending should be outshopped by the end of the week

37 042 has not had any more work done to it since the last update, All it needs is to be numbered and re coded and then should be at the same stage as 47 105
