It is a driving simulation which is a 'cab view' and 'drivers desk' and uses on screen video film for the route -there are 30 routes available such as KingsX-Doncaster ; Paddington - Westbury etc - I have tried it and it is quite good although I think it is a little expensive (39.95 for each route -but they do have special offers etc)

Firstly hello (this is my first post, though I've been sitting "in the background" for a while - not spying, just reading)
Secondly, I brought one of the routes a few years ago - the King's Cross-Doncaster one. Then it wasn't on DVD but ordinary CD so maybe the quality has improved with the advance in technology. Back then it was slightly jerky at slow speed and better at high speed (obviously linked to the speed at which the film was shot). There was also no real variation in routing. One path was identical to the next. One big disadvantage was that the film was always the same. So you could have been doing 1mph and still, eventually, overtake the same trains! Or you could be doing 125mph (on the slow line) and still be overtaken by an HST which would also leave you standing and disappear into the distance!
The film then was set in what looked like late 1970s - so perhaps HSTs performed better then - but not that much better!
Having said that, it was a fairly good sim then, and the only one at the time to show you where you were actually going - even if it was like watching one of those cabview videos over and over again! Maybe the DVD versions have more technology written into them and give more variations.

They probably look the same as me, but if you look very closely there is the tiniest of differences!
To be honest I hadn't actually noticed and picked it totally at random. If there is someone else using it, then when I have a bit more time I will change it to maintain my individuality. (long word, don't really know what it means.)

Its a video sim. Its always realistic as its...well...video!
I've noticed that on the mojority hes used Railsene videos to make it drivable. But It is a bit jerky when you dont 'keep up' with the video.
I only have the Paddington-Bristol but its not bad actually. My next route will be Paddington-Westbury. I've noticed he has 'The cannel-london' route, does this go through the Channel tunnel???????
