Re: Making Tracks Competition
Well I am sure the good folks at MT won't mind me posting the details here. If you don't have an account on their forums then go sign up. They do have some simple pre-requesites for registration but they are not particularly onerous and I am sure all members read the sign-up terms and conditions for all sites they sign up to.
To launch our new website which has been in development for a while now and to coincide with the launch of Scottish Capital Express, we at Making Tracks have decided to host a screenshot competition.
All you have to do is post a screenshot (that you took yourself) using Making Tracks rolling stock. The screenshots can be taken on any route. There will be 3 categories; Electric, Diesel & Steam. You may post only one entry for each category.
Please also include a caption for your screenshot. This could be as simple as "Class xx's at ABC" or something more artistic ... "HST's at Dawn" for example.
You may not use any photo editing software to touch up the images (to add fog, snow or other weather/smoke effects or to further enhance the effects which exist within the MSTS Graphics Engine). It *MUST* be unedited and as shot.
The winning screenshots in each category will be used as part of the design for the new homepage and will also win a product of the poster's choice from the Making Tracks Route or Stock Pack range (which can include Scottish Capital Express).
Important notes:
The screenshot must contain MT stock. This can be from a Route, a Stock Pack or a Free Stock Friday download.
You are allowed to post only one screenshot per category (but you may enter all three categories).
Members of the Making Tracks team (including beta testers) may not participate in the competition.
You authorise Making Tracks to use, royalty free, any screenshot that is posted as part of this competition for use on its website, and for publicity material.
The competition will run until Sunday 12th July 2009 and the results will be announced on the Making Tracks website on Friday 17th July 2009.
The judges' decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Kindest regards

I applied to join the Making Tracks forum over a week ago, so far I have not been accepted. Don't know why.

Somehow, I cannot see any commercial enterprise 'alienating' any individual in the public gaze, especially anyone talented in content creation
I suspect misunderstandings here on both accounts.
May I suggest that if any clarification regarding any individuals staus / site access problems with MT are needed, then they are best conducted in private.

Re: Making Tracks Competition
Carl, you have two accounts on the Making Tracks forums, this in itself is a breech of the forum rules, but as you have never posted with the first account, it was removed.
Your other account cj******** was last accessed on 29 Nov 2008, 16:20 which was the same date that we were discussing the Class 57/6 Stock Pack and the free coaches that were released by someone to colour match them.
Your account was issued with a temporary ban to prevent this discussion from flaring back up on our forums after your status was altered on the MT forum to display your Europeanbahn Developments Team Member status. This ban expired on 31st December 2008 and if you choose not to return to the forums, that is not something that MT can do anything about, we do not force you to come to our forums, just as we do not force you to purchase our products.
If you do not know your password for the MT forums, you can click on the forgotten my password link to reset it.
That said Carl, you do always have issues with Making Tracks that you are more than willing to air in public on here. Why would you possibly want to come back to our forums. I have been banned from other company forums for saying far less about their policies, products or general customer service experience. If you do want to critise then you might find a bigger audience on UKTS, but we are more than happy to take constructive criticism on our forum, you do not have to look hard to find it if you look as we don't ban users for having an honest opinion nor do we delete it!

That said, access to the Making Tracks forums is not a right, but a privilege just as it is here and at other developers websites. We do provide methods of accessing support if you are banned from our forums however (which you are not).carlwestwood wrote:I cant access it.. simply because they kicked me off for "hating" them even though ive never said anything of the sort. Can I suggest that you email forums@makingtracks-online.co.uk if you require assistance with your forum account. As Terry has said, posting I'm banned cos they said I hate them really doesn't help anybody.terrycunliffe wrote:I suspect misunderstandings here on both accounts.

As to us saying "temporary ban" what is not clear about it ?carlwestwood wrote:Well thats News to me, because I only ever thought i had one.lumpchase wrote:Carl, you have two accounts on the Making Tracks forums, this in itself is a breech of the forum rules, but as you have never posted with the first account, it was removed.

If you have been unable to log in since January and have not really contact us then I'm at a loss as to suggest how this is our fault..
If you have not tried to log on since the ban ended, that's really not MT's fault either is it ?
There is nothing on your account at the moment which suggests you are currently still banned.
If your experience suggests otherwise you should consider telling us, we're chuffing great, but we're not mind readers.

Re: Making Tracks Competition
I would appreciate it if you guys could take this conversation into PMs please. I understand that following the initial post from Carl it was right to give Making Tracks the right to reply but this thread is supposed to be about raising awareness of the competition and not sharpening axes ready for a fight.
If that happens then there will be no "winners" only losers on all sides. The moderators have the authorisation and the ability to act very decisively but I would prefer to "relax" tonight trying to figure out why the MSTS signalman appears to have taken on a homicidal streak on my activity.

Can I just say that any former user who has been banned from the MT forum in the past may contact us to discuss 'unbanning' if they do so wish and they are not A.K.A.I.K.B.
