Two Expresses to Cardiff

Post by slp619420 »

I was reading a book the other day and came across two things that i might help with a couple of Activities for Bristol to Cardiff in the steam area between 1930's and 60's

Bristol - Cardiff Express
Birmingham - Cardiff Express

Guessing they both stop at Newport but i was wondering which other stations do both expresses stop at?

Thinking about it, a Bristol-Cardiff express would only stop at Newport since that's the only other main station on the line. A Birmingham - Cardiff train would stop at Cheltenham, Gloucester (until the mid 1970s Gloucester Eastgate station was open which meant trains wouldn't have to reverse at Gloucester central), and then Newport.

Having said that though the majority of fast trains from Bristol - Cardiff were London - Cardiff trains which didn't stop at Bath and Bristol TM.
