MSTS on 2 drives???
I think I read that you could have MSTS on 2 different hard drives....
Because of the size of my setup I want to have a MSTS US on a drive and a MSTS EUROPE on another.
Can it be done????
Any contributions, ideas or links greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

MSTS on 2 Drives
Hi Guys
I have been using MSTS on 2 drives for a whole I use drive C to set up a new route & activitys using the Activity Analysis program and then when everything is running ok I select all then move the whole program down to drive F which I use for playing the activitys. Each route including the defaults takes up around 2 gig and on Drive F I have the following
1: Denver & Rio Grande Route
2: French TGV Routes
3: German Railroads
4: GNER East Coast
5: Mideast UK1
6: Modern England
7: Caldervale & Airedale
8:England 1 (ex Yorkshire)
9:Northern Rail Route V 5
10:Protrain & Protrain 2
11: S & C 1930's
12: Scottish Routes (Stranraer + Far North + West Highland)
13: Settle & Carslile Default with all activitys)
14:Rauben Llangollan & Swansea
When anything new comes up for these routes they are copied & moved back into the basic default program in drive C to get the activity analysis working, sorted out and then moved back into drive F. This way of working suits me & my friend John and we get very little problems with MSTS. Hope you find this of interest.
Regards.
Alan.

Georges,
Having multiple complete copies of MSTS uses a lot of hard-drive space and it's not really necessary.
I have one copy of MSTS installed and have several "sets" of routes in "storage" outside of the MSTS folder. Each set includes a Routes folder and a Trains folder. The Trains folder contains the consists and the rolling stock appropriate for the routes in the Routes folder of the set. Some sets include only one large route, e.g. MidEastUK. Some sets include several smaller routes, e.g. the default routes. Whichever set I want to work on - add activities, run activities, etc. - I move the Routes folder and the Trainset folder into the MSTS folder (after moving out the ones that are already in there). It means I don't have any problems pointing utilities like RouteRiter, Activity Analysis and ConBuilder in the right direction.
That would work on two drives by having the storage on a different drive from the MSTS folder.

Georges,
Stock sorting is not a big deal if you have Route Control lite.
Put your Routes folder and Trains folder for one set of routes into the MSTS folder. Move everything out of the Trainset folder (except Default.something wag?) to a location outside of MSTS.
Run Route Control. It will give you a list of the missing wagons and locos. Move (or copy) the required stock back into the Trainset folder. Done!
Repeat this for all of your route sets.
I have a "Test" set using the Modern England route where I keep all of the rolling stock not needed for the other routes.
Regards,
Bob.
