New Westvale Activities

Post by connorurry »

Hi all.

As my role as providing good activities for the community, I decided to get off my hind legs and do an activity for a different route.
I recently downloaded Gary Soden's (neptune50006) Westvale route and I was so impressed with the amount of detail I decided to make some activities for this wonderful country route.

There is also yet another activity in the workshop at the moment (just need to make a couple of ajustments)

I'll just put the description in:

NAME : 10:13 St Margarets - Boxfield

DESCRIPTION : A class 22 is at your disposal today as you take your train to Boxfield calling at all stations.

Anyway, i hope you like my new Westvale Activities!

Not tried the activities yet but I notice you havn't used a brake van.

Right up to 1967 all goods trains had to have a brake van.

The PO wagons are handbrake only and the guards brake is needed to control them and prevent runaways.

Passenger trains also have to have a coach with a brake compartment.
As well as the guards accomodation it stored the safety equipment which no passenger train was allowed to run without.

Keeping the guards van at the rear also makes activities more interesting.

If it's got buffers it's Chain.

I'll have to download a breakvan then. I'll release patches for all the activities instead of removing them...

Can I join in Ali?

Do I suspect the idea for Connor's DMU run activity came from:

I was going to have a go at the private owner activity but if you're going to update the activity with a brakevan Connor then I'll wait for you to reupload it. :)

Watch out he's now throwing temper tantrums and sending people PM's I offerd him some advice about a Connex 319 would not be seen at Westvale and suggested a more likely unit would be a Connex 205.

All I got was a nasty pm about being his activity and he will do what he likes,I know for one I will not be down loading it if it still has a emu.

And I will no longer give him any helpfull advice.

Actually, for once, I do have some sympathy with his point of view. When I write activities I tend to use whatever I fancy, its written for the challenge not to be 100% perfect or necessarily 100% realistic. I quite often get PM's from people saying "you should have used xx or yy" Usually I just reply thanking them but ignore them. I write them my way. It may be that he doesnt have a huge amount of stock and, like me, doesnt want to download more.

I go with what is on the route CD if I fancy it, and dont pay a great deal of attention to authenticity. If its on the CD its fair game. Its only a game after all. However any replies must be polite and there is never any excuse for rudeness, if indeed he has been rude.

It looks like he's pulled the activities now anyway.
