31s to Brighton
Some of you eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that the proposed diagram to take Fragonset 31s to brighton hasn't materialised, and its nothing to do with the Fire Brigades strike. Apparently the issue should be resolved one way or other by 25th Nov, the problem seems to revolve around fuelling, either at Cardiff or Brighton, as having engines at both ends of the train fouls the respective depots entrances. If this cannot be resolved then it looks likely that the 31s will do 2 return trips to Weymouth daily. Will keep all updated.

Not sure how the passengers on the train would feel about that....

Why would they need run round when they are top and tailed, operating on the same basis as the 27's did in scotland. And on the other post's i dont think they would foul brighton or cardiff somehow as they are only running with 5 carriages anywaysteve33108 wrote:i heard that when the southern gang visited worthing model railway exhibiton, but i have been forgetting to look out and see if they are running. perhaps someone should tell the company, fratton has run round facilities and fueling!

Well spotted!!! Its the fuellers that they'd spoil as the shunt wouldnt involve the engines being detached, so the equivalent of a 6 coach unit would sit on a fueller not designed for it..... and obviously FGW won't let them use their fueller either! As for getting excited about them, well it'll be a struggle to motivate myself to drive the 5 miles to see them splutter by , if I'm honest. Add a days drinking with a decent crowd of fellow cranks...well,TAXI!!!!!!![/quote]

what i meant was, they could stick them both on the same end of the train, to get fueled at the same time, if they went into fratton T&T, only one would get on the fuel point its self, so they could run one engine round, stick on the fuel point and then run round again. for those who speak technical, are the fuel hose designes bolt loaded, or normal {like a 150}? Fratton can cater for both types, but its just curiousity. we had a 150 in trouble at portsmouth today, running on one engine, with the other one kicking out far more smoke than normal {maybe the extra work}.
