Consist Creating Problems?
If you have problems creating a new consist, or your a newbie who wants to know, you might want to download this:
It's a tutorial on how to create your own conisist in 10 easy steps.
Note: You require Powerpoint for this to work as this is a Powerpoint Presentation.

It will also work with Open Office Impress!

Re: Consist Creating Problems?
Powerpoint is fine, but for people who've already got an alternative that costs somewhat less, it's good to know it will work on that as well without having to download extra software.

Re: Consist Creating Problems?
I know there are some power points in XTracks, but this is ridiculous. If you must revamp what Microsoft supplied in their Tech Docs, stick to the tried and trusted methods of communication, txt, rtf, doc and pdf, most folk have the free software that can read those formats.

Thanks sjbaker34. I like doing these nice tutorials for the community but comments like:
makes me feel ashamed of myself. I might as well not bother anymore...this is ridiculous

Re: Consist Creating Problems?
I have to agree with connor here. Tutorials for such things as activity creation don't always lend themselves to creation in 'word processing' format; the likes of PowerPoint were specifically designed for such things. Admitttedly, PP is a part of a quite expensive Micro$oft suite, but as has been mentioned, Open Office is a perfectly good free substitute. Anyway, not everyone has software that can produce or read RTF files - and which version would you produce? I know of at least two standards - or .pdf files, whereas readers for most Micro$oft applications are available for free.

Re: Consist Creating Problems?
I would just like to say well done Conner the tutorial was well thought up, keep up the good work. And don't become disheartened by one grumpy persons negative comments. And can I also urge others to engage their brain before criticiseing other peoples work, after all Conner quite clearly stated on the download page what programme was needed to make it work. So then you make an informed choice to download or not!

Re: Consist Creating Problems?
There were a few spelling / typographical errors, so it might be a good idea to double check everything again but otherwise it quite good as a beginners guide.
Maybe Matt might consider linking to it from the Tutorials section on the front page - once the document has been error corrected.

Re: Consist Creating Problems?
I was not criticising the presentation of the work as such, but the choice of format used, for which it seems I was wrong to do so.
