SLUG 6 "37906"

Post by rushdenx1 »

I have downloaded the excellent 'slug 6'. I thought I would try it out hauling just 4 BYA wagons. For some reason it really struggled to get above 30mph. How do I alter the .ref file so I can increase its hauling capability.

Thanks Kevin : :o

Hi Andy - did you get anywhere with those vintage road vehicle pictures / book I lent you a while back?

Most likely to be a problem with the wagons brake type.
Or you could be drving the 37 too harsh. The 37s eng file has been designed so that it can have wheelslip unlike most other diesels. Put the power on full and it will stall usually from a standing start and sometimes moving. Put the sander on.

It seems that all crews forget the handbrakes on peaks too

Always makes me laugh remembering the 08 bouncing on the spot as it couldn't move  :D

Maybe crewe should never have touched them i mean ok 906 makes a lovely racket in the valleys of shropshire on PW trains everyday SVR. But really would have to laugh at the fact a 37/9 does have a greater hauling capacity to that of a class 58 or 66, Would love to have been down on stormy bank where it used to fly up on a 1'600 tonne train faster than a pair of standard 37's

I think the truth lies somewhere inbetween on that one The handbrake was partially on and the 37's were overcharging the brakes - All I can say is it was very bl**dy cold having to sit in the cab of the 33 from Axminster to Salisbury after the fire brigade had put it out and the windows left wide open! The smell was none too great either! :)
