What did you think when you first got MSTS? I know its a pointless question.

i thought wow what a brilliant way to get people to drive trains. Then when i discovered UKtrainsim and other sites doing more stuff for it i was like wooo hoooo people are really getting into this game. Whats more suprising is that alot of non rail enthusiasts have got into it and become rail enthusiasts. MSTS2 is bound to be alot better. Microsoft have realised the for a market for the Hobby horse and in a couple of years i can see a microsoft bus simulator

Bus Simulator would be quite interesting. Just think of driving a bus and pulling into bus stops with a steering wheel.
Anyways, no more going off topic, I was using Railroad Tycoon and BVE before. BVE has slightly better graphics I thought, but you can do alot more on MSTS.
Pointless question to ask in my views as it's been a year after MSTS has come out. I would say WOW for the first one but i'm very much looking forward to see MSTS2 and see what new routes are in store, if it'll be internet compatible and if the route editor is easier to use.

Well, you could lay the tracks below the road level and then build the bus models with a little elevated wheels so it seems like they go on the road, that's of course unless you want to make road-like looking track pieces...
However, I don't really see the point, because you'll never be able to steer the bus, and the signalling system is slightly different.

If you are looking for something more realistic (although not very realistic + it's with trucks, not busses), try King of the Road (European version of Hard Truck 2) by Ascaron (description only in German):
http://www.ascaron.com
There you can drive around in a whole world, complete shipping tasks, buy new trucks & equipment for them, hire new drivers for your company, etc. I played it for quite some time...
But that's getting O.T. now, let's get back to trains!
