Headcodes

Hi There
My friend Emrhd01 set me with a problem. I had built the 8f and there are a nice set of lamp brackets on the front but no lamps. Now I have a few moments, I thought I would have a look at rectifying this.
A solution I have come up with is this.
I made a complete set of lamps mounted on the Loco in 3D canvas and then exported the different headcodes to the loco folder in MSTS. I then aliased the Crew to the tender and then set the headcodes as a freight animation. To change the headcode all you need to do is change a single letter in the freight animation line. The letters used are the correct headcode class letters as issued by the Railway Clearing House.
Thes headcodes will only work with the 8F mode.
This has probably been done before, but for me this is new.

There is one missing as it was unlikely an 8F would use it. Another unlikely one an 8F would use is in there as well.
Who knows what the codes represent?
and what is the missing one?
Only 1 answer per person please

I am sure Liz and Phil, and her Mum and Dad before her would have relished a bit of 8F thrash, making a pleasant change from yet another Top Link Pacific.....

Pacifics? Couldn't use them on one of their regular runs; they used to have two specially tended Claud Hamilton (D16 Super Clauds) 4-4-0's known as the 'Royal Clauds' to take them (not double-headed, either, one was always an alternate, just in case) to Sandringham, and when they were retired, I think the job was allocated to a pair of Class 31s. Britannias were the first Pacifics on GER metals, apart from a West Country in the 1948 trials.
Oh, and, er, not wishing to be too much of a stickler for protocol but... He's an HRH, certainly, but
she can be nothing but HM - as were her Mum and Dad before her...

Didn't a couple of B17s take over from the Clauds - Royal Sovereign was one.
Pacifics were used on lines away from East Anglia - certainly on the trips to Balmoral.

Rather than have freight animations you could fit the lamps permenantly but make them of transparent material.
Alternative sets of ace files could then be done for each headcode with the unused lamps alpha'd out.

Brilliant idea Ian... I wonder why its taken so long for someone to come up with that, it seems so obvious now you have said it...

Yes you idea I think is a better idea than mine but I have reached the poly limit of the model. If I add anything else I start losing textures when I export to the sim.
I ran an activity using the headcode freight anim and everything seems to work ok. I even made a save and changed the code to light engine when I uncoupled from the consist, reloaded and ran light to shed.
I will put it out to test and see what feedback I get.

You would also need duplicate models for every class.
Doing it the way you've done it its only small light files for each variation.

Hi there
The only down side so far is that when you are on View 1 forward view the backs of the lanterns are in view.
I have just made the new installer and tested it, It all seems to work ok so far

If you make the headlamps with an alpha bright interior as you would make a coach, the lamp will appear lit without the use of the lights coding.
The ace file for each headcode could be changed with a bat file
