Does anyone know of any excellent routes which are relatively small (For example, smaller than Dorset Coast and ECE) that is set in modern times, which would be ideal for running freight over?

Presumably you are aware of Burton-Derby and Cannock Chase, excellent routes for freight activity and not so large as to cause problems on a less than 100% computer as Dorset Coast.
