i know the isle of wight, in fodda terms, 'it be just across that stream' or the solent, i live in north portsmouth! i think its highly unfair that we didnt get a portsmouth and isle of wight option, i reckon we should both leave and blame it on connex! :D

Well, the list of options is at best bizzare and at worst the product of an A level Geography student. I mean:

Northern
Southern
Westings/includes central
eastings/includes central
Europe
1 of the 50 American states (please say which one)
Bassingstoke
Australia
Munich
Germany

I've not been to Bassingstoke (unless that's the new name for Burton on Trent) but I've been to Basingstoke. I agree, it should be seperately defined from Europe. It's more like Stepford. But Munich and Germany? Weren't they part of Europe when we last checked? And prey what is wrong with Asia, South America, Africa, the Middle East, the rest of Oceania and the rest of North America?

Ah well, I suppose everywhere outside the third rail is a bit hazy to the Southern fans.

Oooooooooooooohoooooooooh! :)

I must admit though I did know someone from London that thought Slough was 'the sticks'. Well, I suppose it is JUST outside the M25.

So what's the attraction of Stockport? Or do you keep going back to let the cat out?

Tiz where I have always lived since I was a kid - everything else is a work related temporary reassignment! There are far worse places in the UK (and plenty better)... Plus we have a goodly assortment of railway lines (incl. old ones dug up and the potential for new ones to be built - aka Metrolink Phase 3).

Nothing wrong with Slough. When Bradford opened an embassy in London to promote their city of culture bid I remember seeing a feature on the news where they interviewed people in London and asked them to locate northern cities on a map. Some people had no idea where Bradford was - and one man pointed to the vauge locale of Riccarton Junction!

Apparently most respondants placed Liverpool north of the border!
