Re: Silver Lining
I had had hopes that MSTS2 woiuld turn out to be MSTS with the nasty bits ironed out. It looks now as if I shall never know.

Personally I Don't have the time to spend on another simulator, I'm on MSTS most days.phat2003uk wrote: How much further do you really think MSTS can go?
Looked at KRS, there are things I would like to see in MSTS, however it's NOT the graphics.
The MSTS community and the extraordinary work that is done by them keeps me interested.
Most of all George's BinPatch will be keeping the simulator going well into the future.
Along with the commercial addons that are available today, these are just amazing.

Hi
Absolutely, with DC6, NW coastal, NWE3, SC Express, MEP , MML (steam era) all on the way there's more than a couple of years worth.
Also it was good to read that MSTS runs better under Windows 7 than Vista......... so the futures bright for a few years yet.
The uptake of new MSTS fans over christmas was good too.
Cheers

HI there,
Also add on to the list of releases Bigants "Black Country 1" which will be very soon
which has an amazing track plan between Castle Bromwich and Birmingham New St. and through to Soho Junction.
The freeware 8F will be uploaded at the same time as BC1 is released plus I will do a new freeware Black 5.

Re: Silver Lining
I've seen posts about a West Anglia Line and Chiltern Line as well.
For the benefit of OldRocker, does the Black Country route include Brownhills?

Quote "For the benefit of OldRocker, does the Black Country route include Brownhills" yes it does, its a clone of CC5 but a lot of area's have been improved, track layouts and more scenery added.

To the KRS suporters shunning msts - your just jealous that its still around...
I never really found anything in KRS. too much time to try to get a new sim to work. even with a new pc it jumps around like a frog on cocaine, and it all seems a bit too toy like. I'm glad that people are developing for it though.
I still has my apprehensions that msts 2 would have been like KRS. the fact that msts is old are does not have the new features is the main reason we like it - simple and fun.
MSTS will still be developed for for another 5 years or more i would say, I just dont see it going away.

I bought a new PC a few months ago and that meant FPS of 30+, what specification was yours?
Feel free to enjoy MSTS, just don't like how a divide has to be created between 'Pro-RS' and 'Pro-MSTS'.
All this talk of MSTS however is making me nostalgic, I may wheel it out later

I didnt mean to provoke by that first comment. I just thought some people may think that. I think it is sad too that people have been divided, I dont want to supoort that.
My new pc had:
4GB Ram
dual core 3ghz processor
ATI Radeon HD 3650
500GB SATA HD
It ran at a high fps, but just kept jumping around.
Oh, and if your getting msts out... bee in for a shock!

Re: Silver Lining
Hi
All excellent news.
MSTS has weathered lots of different challengers over the years, whether released or not, and is still the all round best Train Simulator.
Its a shame that those that followed, couldn't build on all the things Kuju got right the first time.
Cheers

Concerning MSTS, I had a quick blast at it and to be honest, it was nice to be back on the old LSE and Great Eastern as well as all those other routes! Now I've sorted out scaling issues with my widescreen monitor, it's back to how I remember it which is nice. When things are quiet on the RS side, it'll be good to have a go on MSTS again. It was great driving a slam door EMU again with the sounds that go with them.

Re: Silver Lining
Within a few weeks time I expect he will...

On a serious note, the guys at RSDL who worked on MSTS are very proud of their work, and of how it's still enjoyed by so many.
regards
Derek
