Hi
If you download this Royal Scot, you'll be able to see what's needed to be altered.

I have recently noticed that James Brenner has uploaded the #A1 Genisis from the Northeast Corrider making it drivable.
James, if your'e out there, please tell me how you made this #A1 train Player - Drivable and how you can do it to other #A1 Trains. PLEASE...

Don't waste your time with the default locos.
There are much better replacements available here.

Try here for the Genesis.

The US locos and a drivable Kiha 140 are on http://www.train-sim.com

380 and 310 are here....

Hi
And I thought I'd posted the answer yesterday.
But you'll need to edit the Eng files, by adding the Cabview lines.
There are also beginners tutorials on the front page.

You can. Just douuble-click on one and you should be asked what program you would like to open files of this type - select NOTEPAD.

Hi , not all versions of Notepad do unicode - so wordpad the safer option!

No. You will need to open the eng file of each AI loco otive you want to drive, and add the cabview and sound lines in roughly the same places as they are in a drivable version. So i suggest first of all you look at a drivable loco's eng file to see how its written, then make a copy of the AI eng file ( so you can go back if you mess it up) and then try making the same changes in the loco you want to use.

Use ConTEXT text editor.

"Quick and dirty" fix using default stock: it will give you the general idea - Using RoyalScotsman as an example:

1. Copy ROYALSCOTSCLASS folder to a location outside MSTS as a safety back-up.

2. Copy SOUND and CABVIEW folders from SCOTSMAN to ROYALSCOTSCLASS folder.

3. Open royalscotsclass.eng - Go to line 106 (Ctrl-G).

Replace the text:
Sound ( "GenSteamEng.sms" )
with
Sound ( "FScotEng.sms" )

4. Go to line 256 (Ctrl-G).
Insert the the following text:

CabView ( scotsman.cvf )
HeadOut ( 1.7 3.1 -5.5 )

5. Go to line 313 (Ctrl-G). You should be at the bottom of the file.
Press "Enter", then "up arrow". You should have blank line at line 313, and a solitary closing bracket on line 314.
Insert the the following text:

Sound ( "FScotCab.sms" )
Name ( "Royal Scotsman Driveable" )
Description ("Royal Scotsman default engine")

6. Ctrl-S to save.

Create a consist. Royal Scotsman appears as a driveable engine ( the handle symbol at left tells you so):

Run the loco.

He means a loco spotted on an early promo for MSTS way back in time just after the ice age.

One that never made it to the sim.
