planning on a welsh marches route when ive reistalled MSTS
Im planning a great feature of railway infrastructures, Shrewsbury station, ok I know its not that great now but the trackwork was extensive during the days of LMS and great western and the station is a unique design in itself. Shrewsbury alone gives plenty of scope for short activities like Yard transfers, Freight building and shunting, Stock shunting, And a very busy station pilot loco activity. here's a chance for me to see what ive really got when it comes to building a route hopefully to Newport, Gwent including the little branchlines.

mmmm
I like to state that this will be my first attempt, and it will probably be ready, ooooh let see, in a year or so. Sorry tim not trying to beat your endurance record. As shrewsbury also had 9 signal boxes the track work will be the longest out of the lot, what with tripple double a single X's point work, a turntable in the middle of the triangle behind severn bridge box. All platforms in that period were as follows:
platform 1 and 2: london and penzance (main express and parcels)
platform 3 and 4: Swansea, Stafford and other locals Exept Mid wales
platform 5 and 6: Aberystwyth, Aberdeen, Birkenhead, Cardiff, Glasgow(mail), Holyhead, London(cambrian coast express), Liverpool, Manchester (main express and parcels).
platform 7 and 8: mostly the same as 5 and 6 Cambrian coast express was north bound on this platform!.
platform 9 and 10:all mid wales locals includes swansea via Knighton.
Sound complicated, ok ill do it easier for the head srcatchers.
Today 1 and 2 is 7
3 and 4 are 5 and 6
5 and 6 is 4
7 and 8 is 3(disused and shortened due to a 47 derailing!)
9 and 10 are 1 and 2(disused and no track)
Would have loved to be alive around 1963 - 68 just to see all the movements, Spotters were having difficulty getting atleast a cup of tea between trains then.
Please note all signal boxes are in a 2 mile radius Harlescott being 3 miles
Boxes 1960's: Severn bridge Junction (180 levers) still going with 78 levers
Crewe bank Junction (140 levers) lost half levers still going
Abbey Forgate junction (70) still going lost some levers a coal yard and a carriage siding
Sutton bridge Junction (90) lost half the levers still going
Crewe Bank (40) Use on Request
Coton hill Main line(50) closed 1970
Harlescott Crossing (25) still going strong
Coton hill Yard (??) Demolised by a 47!!! 1968 - 9
Coleham (??) for access to coleham yard and depot only.
ok enough said dont want to spoil to much now do i
