ROUTE = London and South Eastern
ACTIVITY = 1000 1Z14 Selhurst Hither Green
Having finally resolved the stock issues; i.e. substitution mainly, I checked the route using RouteRiter. I then fired up MSTS and the above activity from TrainStore.
Got through the opening screens - locomotive box said unknown locomotive, which I ignored - and when the activity started the following message immediately appeared:-
ALERT This activity began with two objects colliding which is prohibited.
Clicked OK box, and the activity ended saying I had failed due to exiting, etc. I did however note that behind the message box and through the cab window there didn't appear to be any track?
I do not know what to do - the only changes to this activity related to consist make up; viz a viz stock substitution. Having spent a fair amount of time getting this activity to what I thought was a workable state I am reluctant to ditch it.
Any help and/or advice would be most welcome.
Thanks, Ruf

Hi Ruf,
It sounds like your stock replacement has made either a loose consist (more probably) or an AI consist have a starting point that is too close to the player path.
You can only really check this out with the Activity Editor. Look for loose consists that are uncomfortably close to the main path.
Any more experienced advice than mine would be appreciated.
Cheers

That is almost certain to be the case. I suspect your substitutions have made the consist longer and you are fouling another service. Try moving the start point of your player service back a little if you can, to see if that now creates enough space. In the activity editor you can use the "Verify Start State" to test if all is ok, any errors will cause that to fail.

Re: Message requires deciphering!
Thank you for the comments.
Typically the stock substitutions were of the same class, etc. but from a different creator. Theoretically they shouldn't cause such a clash I would have thought, but . . .
The only significant change was using two Class 33s in the [mpv] CONSIST; so I shall change/delete that including the SRV file and any other relevant entry.
Then once more into the breach as they say.

Re: Message requires deciphering!
I have opened AE and after rooting about found "verify starting state" and clicked. Things whirred so to speak, slider at bottom moved to 10.00am and then nothing. I therefore assume that things are OK?

Try it with just a single Class 33 in case the two together exceed the length of the MPV.The only significant change was using two Class 33s

Thats strange but not totally unexpected as the editor doesnt always mirror the activity exactly and the starting positions of AI in the sim can be slightly different in the editor.
I think my next step would be to set the AI to none and see if the activity now starts. If it does you know that it isnt a loose consist or player placement error. if you still get the error you know its either a loose consist or your player service at fault. Then i think you are going to have to try removing one piece of AI at a time until the activity starts and you find the offending item
Oh and I edited this after I read your last post Ruf

OK will do as you advise. I'll comment on the outcome later. Meanwhile testing other activities in LSE to root out errors induced by change of stock - mainly cab view and sound files.

Hello
The colliding message can also be caused by a static consist that hits the end of a piece of track.
This can easily occur if you've done coupler modifications which can change the overall length of a consist. Changed brake settings can possibly allow a bit of a roll when a consist is initially placed if they don't apply rapidly enough.
