I would like to know why that the loco's re-couple to the train, when you have un-coupled the train, is there anyway of preventing this?

Go Slower!
Dab the D key so that the loco creeps away very slowly and only apply power when there is about a foot of space between the buffers.

If it's got buffers it's Chain.

Don't think that's what he means Ian!
As I understood it, what you are saying is that you stop the train, press F9? (from memory) and uncouple a carriage from the train, but then they roll back down into your train and 're-couple.
I have two suggestions for you to try, suggest trying both.
1 - See if the stock you are using is Handbrake-enabled and if it is, stop, hit F9 (again I think) and click on the carriages after you want to disconnect (to the right of). These should then hold the train as you accelerate off. Might be best to try and get quickly out of the blocks, ie 100% throttle. Also, I reccomend holding back on uncoupling until you are ready to depart.
Sorry If I'm wrong!

Actually I think you'll find Ian's solution is correct, it's better to go slow if you can't get the loco away from the stock without it automatically recoupling.richard222 wrote:Don't think that's what he means Ian!

Re: Locomotives re-coupling to the train
Hi Daniel1983, I totally agree with Ian and Tim, I at first had difficulty uncoupling so I followed the following proceedure to get success most times.
1) Stop the Train (obviously)
2) Open F9 and click on the wagon/Coach I want to uncouple from and put on the handbrake of the wagon/coach that you want to leave behind ( This will be highlighted in Red)
3) Double Click on the coupling between the loco and or wagon/coach you want to keep and the above Wagon/coach, after doing this in F9 only the Loco with any wagons/coaches will show in the window
4) Leaving the F9 window open, release the brakes in the loco and apply and remove the throttle gently by pressing "D" and "A" several times in rapid succession
5) By doing this the train should move away from the wagon/coach(s) and after a few seconds you can check you have been succesfull by closing F9 and looking at the outside view using the "2" or "3" keys
If while doing 4) a few times, you hear a clunk or clink and the wagons reappear in the F9, unfortunately you haven't succeeded and were pulling away too fast away so you must press "A" and gently apply the brakes
Then try steps 3-5 again pressing D for a little while shorter and this means that you get the train moving very slowly say under 1Mph and this will break the coupling link.
Remember that you have the handbrake on the wagon/coaches so if you haven''t succeeded the Train will not have moved, but it is best to kill any pulling forces that applying the throttle may have built up in the train.
