34081 from the BATS CD has a version with the golden arrow headboard but no side arrows.
Unfortunately the headboard is part of the shape file and not a seperate freight animation.

You could use the ace to make an FA but you would not be able to upload it unless you had permission from the original author.

Hi Ian, thanks for reply and appologies for late reply, on nights this week.

Am I right in saying that the BATS CD is no longer available?

Hi Jon, sorry for late reply, on night shift this week.

I'm now totally confused, have found BATS_BoB_34081_GA_BR but when loading it has no Golden Arrow on front. also this engine has Four engine files and one does mention Golden Arrow. One engine did have London Paris Night Sleeper on front.

Not sure what to do Now

Hi Ash, Thanks for reply. The guys out there are going to think i'm stupid.

I've found the engine in shape viewer which I have'nt used before and what a beauty it is, complete with GA Headboard and flags. However I still Cannot work out how to get it into my Trainset as A working Item. I thought as a working engine it would come up automatically on BATS Southern Region Woking - Basingtoke

Hi
To use a new loco you have to create a consist.

http://members.uktrainsim.com/index.php ... m_pageno=3

Although I would have though it would have come with one, from the CD.

Hi Jon, me yet again. Thanks for reply.

I do know how to create a Consist, Engine, tender, Passenger or goods Carriages or just a single engine consist etc. I can find the Engine 34081 complete with GA Headboard, and, yes it does have Arrows on the side. Here's the problem! When I try to save it, message appears saying it's a non player engine. Saved it anyway to see what would happen.

Am I right in saying this is an A1Traffic consist? there is no other option to pick for this Engine and when you open 34081 Engine File it has the # Sign in front of the entries which suggests an A1 Train.

Route Riter has an option for making Trains A1 but as far as I can see there is'nt an option for reversing the process.

Have tried removing all the # signs from 34081 files but with no luck! Am I on the right track please.

Paul,

There are nine versions of the .eng file for 34081 in the folder - combinations of three of each of normal (no prefix), # and $ and three of each of no headboard, GA headboard and NF headboard. It sounds like you've included the # GA version in your consist when what you really need is the no-prefix GA version.

Hi Bob, Thanks for help, Finally sorted, and thanks to all the other guys ouy there for their help.

I have one more question regarding Steam Engines in general, that I asked along time ago but did'nt get a reply.

I've always used Automatic Fireman when playing MSTS. The Problem I Have is, When starting off I Normally set the speed to around 5% and gradually increase speed to required track speed limit. However with a lot of Steam Engines, including the Golden Arrow which i've been messing with over the last few days, the speed keeps going back to Zero and cannot get up any speed, One Engine I have 90034 Oliver Cromell is the only Steam Engine which will stay where I set the regulator to, but on a long Route will start doing the same thing about 3/4's along the way. Any suggestion please.

Hi Paul
This is a tutorial on firing a steam engine, but it describes the controls which might help.

http://members.uktrainsim.com/index2.ph ... teamfiring&

Generally I find you need to drive with the HUD on F5, watching bolier pressure, remembering 'pressure is king'.
Controls need to altered nearly all the time........ very different to diesels and electrics.

Cheers

Hi Jon, Thanks for reply, Also an Ex LMS Leading Fireman, Also got to drive a few Steam Engines back in the 60's.
Doctor Beaching should be made to come back and see the damage he done. Often wonder, If I got on a footplate today, if I would know where to start and what to do.

Hi Paul
Luckily for me I don't know how a real steam engine performs, so I can't compare MSTS.
Having read the forums over a couple of years, I gather it is missing some vital parameters.
There has been some outstanding work done by those would strive to make locos as real as possible, so its worth looking at the date of the Eng file.
My fingers are still crossed for MSTS2.
Cheers
