EH2 Locos

Post by cgiles »

Hi

Ive had to reinstall the simulator and that being done I now find that most of the EH2" locos the IC225 and class 86/87 dont
move anymore, I wasnt aware of any other downloads when I originally installed them.

I didnt have the electric heritage CD before and they worked fine then.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hi cgiles,?

Have a read of this; the problems are much the same.

If any of that does not match where you are now come back here.

Hi

When you reinstalled MSTS, did you re-install the bin patch, and if so, which version? One version caused problems with some electric locos, in that they wouldn't move unless you pressed the "Z" key first. This problem was fixed in a later version of the patch, so I'd recommend downloading and installing the latest version and seeing if that removes the problem.

The other thing with the EH2 locos is that at the eng files are set up so that it takes a short while between the pan going up before the brakes release. This seems to vary - sometimes a few seconds, sometimes a minute or so. I read this was to mimic systems / pressures building up to operational levels. Not sure exactly what (anyone know?) but it could just be a case of waiting for the brakes to release.

With most locos, when they are shut down, the brakes are fully applied (i.e no air in the pipes). It takes a while to re-charge the air in order to release the brakes, and this varies depending on how quickly the compressor is working. MUs are usually much quicker in this regard, owing to them having a slightly different air brake system.

I think that's how it works anyway!
