Default Rail sounds

Post by koenig »

Hello

is there any way the default rail sounds can be replaced, the one i am mainly concerned with is the repeating anvil type sound that you get in alot of cab views and also when a train passes you. I notice that not all add ons use these default sounds.

Hi Koenig

The track sounds in any route are determined by the ttype.dat file, along with the sounds being implimented in the route by the Route Builder.
If perchance as you have noticed, that other routes do not use the default track sounds and these sounds are satisfactory, just copy the ttype.dat to the desired route folder.
Again, bear in mind that any route must have the region sounds impliment for you to actually hear the sounds.

The commercial track sounds by Railwaves ETA is excellent, however try these first:

If you require bogey sounds (clickerty-clack) these are not track sounds but require implimenting by the coach SMS sound file parameters contained within the individual .wag files.

Or if you want to do a bit of shunting, buffer clank and short wheel base wagon sounds:

Follow the readme.txt with each download and you will have excellent railway sounds on any of your routes.

Kindest regards

Hi, i want to touch on this subject, where did the original sounds come from intially, i remember reading when it first came out, how when doing the Tokyo Hakone, the engineer didn't like the sound recorders going into the mechanism while the train was moving.

But is it really anvil sounds or muffled train workings.

Thanks

Koenig.
Refering to yor query, sugest you go to the SOUNDS section and read the thread, on page 2 at the time of writing, titled 'Where's the clickety clack' . This deals with default track sounds and how to alter them. Hope this will be what you are after.
