I am having a problem with the video tool and service info.
The activity Editor shows the Player Path and all Traffic Paths but the video tool, when operated does not show the Player Train or traffic, also no service info is displayed I.E loose consists ( the box is ticked).
I have checked all other routes and the problem is the same. It appears I must have done something wrong. Can anyone help me to reset the Editor to its default.
Tim

You need to edit the registry, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft Games/Train Simulator/1.0/HWRenderer.
In the right hand window delete all the keys beginning with AE. exit regedit, reboot, and all should be well.
A search for missing consists in AE would have brought you many pages of this advice.

Hi Tim
Its nothing you have done, its one of the many quirks of msts.

Had the similar problem with consists missing in the activity editor - I think may have been caused by using one of the event windows - possibly location events
Didn't fancy the regedit solution but found a new install from the CD's did the job (backed up route files first however - never trust MSTS).
Interestingly problem was not solved by importing backed up version of trainsim already on computer - suggests it may be the inerface between train sim and some part of the other software windows or graphics card.

As the problem is with the Windows Registry, importing a backed up version is useless - the registry fix is quick and painless, as long as you back up your registry. Your re-installation also sorts out the registry, but seems a bit drastic.
Another way is to use Regedit to export the Train Simulator registry key to a .reg file - while it is working correctly, of course. Then, when it goes belly up again, all you need to do is double click on the saved .reg file.

Thanks Alanch
Understand now why backups wouldn't work - might try regedit if it happens again but hate touching windows atall if I can help it

Hi,
This has happened to me a few times and deleting the registry entries has worked.
Deleting registry entries is only dangerous if you don't understand the purpose of the entries that you are deleting (in this case you do because the AE refers to the MSTS Activity Editor which is not going to stop your machine booting or anything like that).
I can assure you that after you have deleted these entries, they are recreated the next time you run the Activity Editor, and the problem is fixed.
The only thing I might suggest is that you don't run the Registry Editor after returning from a night in the pub!
Cheers
Martin
