Re: Dorset coast problems!!
have you ticked the "Textured SKies" option. Which version of your tsection.dat file are you running?

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
I'm afraid a single word answer to a very helpful suggestion is not going to get you very much help.
Allow me to elaborate on the suggestion....
The failure you have described can be caused by a couple of things.
Firstly, the "Textured Sky" tick box needs to be ticked fror Dorset Coast to work correctly. If its not checked, you might as well unload the route. If it is ticked, then leave it ticked...and the problem is something else!
And that something else might be the version of a file called "tsection.dat"....which you'll find in the GLOBAL folder.....being earlier than the version that the route author had installed when he built the route. Installing the latest version of the file....which is available on the front page of UKTrainSim.....may solve the problem.
And finally....its good manners to report back as to the success or failure of suggestions.

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
Thanks for the advise, i ticked the box and the route is working perfectly.
I have got some issues with incorrect senery around Twickenham and Richmond, but that is a different matter.

Remember that all msts routes are representations of the route and are not intended to be photorealistic.

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
I lived in Hounslow for 50 odd years and admit some of the scenery from Feltham (Feltham Station missing station building on bridge Windsor side, Whitton Station no shops on bridge,Twickenham station wrong type of foot bridge half way down platform and Richmond Station wrong station building) to North Sheen.
These are all wrong but given the constraints of MSTS you are never going to get a dead accurate route scenery wise, and even though they are wrong you can tell where you are,if you know the area.
I'm just pleased David had the courage and the hours he has spent to give us a good representation of the South Western route out of Waterloo.I know I could never make a route.
Don't forget he does this in his spare time as well.

I dont think he meant it like that - i think he maybe meant scenery error messages.

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
I've got new vista computer, and when i run the installme, install5.0 and install4.0 and run as administrator in the dorset coast folder, it says it cannot find files and o files copied, I have checked in the folders they are supposed to be in and they in there. What is going wrong.

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
Do you have the 6 default routes definitely installed?
Are you definitely running as Administrator?
You need to run them in the right order (installme, install4.0 and then install5.0) for it to work properly.

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
Please read some of the threads in the MSTS and Vista forum section. The symptoms you describe have been reported before...and possible answers have been given several times.
And the problem does relate to file access permissions.

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
Are you running the download or DVD version patched up to V5? The only reason I ask is that I've never had any problems at all with DC on ether Vista or XP/2000. I would try Re-installing it If I were you, making sure that each time you update from 3-4-5 you run the corresponding 'Install.bat' file.
Good Luck

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
Elaborating on the problems, I understand not everyone's system can handle it but just for my own reference...
How can get to southampton without TS exiting, also how much memory can MSTS run under - 1Gb seems to be sufficient, but is it memory problems or the sim since it's pretty old.
Also the routes you buy like Great Eastern, are intensive but not as intensive as Dorset Coast - But i was wondering has anyone been able to run the game at full full specs?
What kind of memory would you need for that.
Thanks

Re: Dorset coast problems!!
I run it at full specs with a Quad Core 2.66Ghz, 512mb 8800 GT GPU and 3Gb Ram and I get frame rates typically around 40-52 except at Clapham & Eastleigh where it drops down to 12 fps. I'm also running Bin 1.7 which you DO NEED if you want the Graphic settings maxed out.JunGRail wrote:Elaborating on the problems, I understand not everyone's system can handle it but just for my own reference...

What you're running should be fine, Try turning the bottom left slider (Objects Quality - I think) down to 7/10 and it should stop crashing also turn the sounds down to min as MSTS sound buffers do slow it down a lot
