First, I’ve been away for a longish time due to motherboard problems, 3 replacements and finally got a different one, a lovely ASUS P5E.
I had the same problem with running add on CDs I got from the UK Train sim website either early this year or at the end of last year.
I’m having the same problem again and I just cannot get them to work.
the error messagte I get is “ World Initializeing Failed.“
The main “culprit” is GWR Toddington, only 1 activity works in it.
The previous time I got these problems I was advised in this fine forum was to do:-,
---------------------
What you do require because of your "Train World Initialization Failed" is to
install UK FineScale V3.1.6 . ID 11889
New Roads ID 6254 or ID 6256 plus I use V40
Tsection File ID: 6698 = I updated to V38
That fixed the problem back then, but it’s not fixing the problem now.
-----------------------------
I have installed MSTS on these :-
XP X32
XP x64
Vista x32
Vista X64
I tried SATA 3 and Western Digital raptor - 10000 rpm drives.
Same problem in all.
Present set up.
ASUS P5E - the sound card wit it plugs in to a PCI expansion socket at the rear.
nVidia 8800GTS
Intel 8500 Duo Core CPU
Antec 650 Trio PSU
8gb Corsair DDR2 ram
What I can‘t do is set the graphics card because I dont understand the items to set up.
I tried installing the addons in differing order, Toddington last, after the full price, the first install of them.
None of the above works.
I must have re-installed about 15 times.
My main OS is Vista x64.
What I do is, I installed the OS only and set it up, defragged then activated it.
I install MSTS in its own partition & added the MS patch then defragged.
I made an image using True Image 11.
Now I add the add-ons.
I tried installing Finescale before all the addons ( the full price ones) or just before the UK Train Sim CDs.
Making an image means that when I found that the thing was not working all I had to do was wipe the partitions,
restore the image and start again.
Nothing works.
I don’t think so, but would the graphics card not correctly setup cause this.
Needless to say, any help very greatly appreciated.
A few add-ons wont work.

Re: A few add-ons wont work.
The tsection you list
is a bit stone age.
you need this one
Latest one.
That will hopefully fix the problem.
Install the routes one by one, checking after installing, that the new route works.
you may have to reinstall the tsection file, as some routes come with an old version.

Re: A few add-ons wont work.
Glyn,
My apologies, I do have tsection V38, I just copied and pasted the list of files that I was advised to use,
I didn’t look at the versions.
And I do, of course, use v38.
Again, I apologise profusely.
I do have the latest versions of all of them.
Thank you for replying.

Also if you are running Vista you need to give the train.exe file full administrator rights. I also found that to get add ons to work correctly i had to change the permissions for the whole of the Microsoft Games folder and all its subfolders, to everyone full control. Right click the train Simulator folder, pick properties, on the security tab under Users, click edit and tick full control, save and exit. When i did that everything started working ok

Re: A few add-ons wont work.
Well now lads,
I restored my x32 XP partition and also my MSTS Partition.
I copy all my CDs onto another partition for “safe Keeping” in the event something goes wrong with them.
I installed Toddington by going into each folder in the correct order bypassing the main setup.exe
global first, when it was installed I installed it a second time. Then I defragged it.
Then I did the same for route and stock.
It worked.
thanks for all your help.

Re: A few add-ons wont work.
In the past I had the same problem with Dorset Coast, someone told me to check that the "Textured Sky" option was selected on the options.
I may be wrong but it could be the cause, so I would suggest you check just incase...

Re: A few add-ons wont work.
Yep Lee, I had read that “warning” in my Dorset Coast but it was not the problem.
After I got Toddington working I began the installation of all my other Routes.
After about every 3 route installations, I had to re-install XTracks 3.20 or they wouldn’t run.
It’s no great problem that - provided it works, and it does.
Thanks Lee, greatly appreciated.

Re: A few add-ons wont work.
It probably isn't XTracks that you need to keep reinstalling - save your time by just installing the latest Tsection.dat which is what XTracks does.
If you use Trainstore, you don't need to do that either - have a look at my post here http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... e+tsection to find out why.
