(I can't find any other threads on this......) mark, what can I say? A 'vot TI'* with skirts and dominoes, ideal for the MidEast - simply superb, and in the same league (if not a bit better than) as the 40 and deltic.... Hope it didn't cause you too much pain to get it finished, I for one appreciate it. Thanks

I agree, i for one have been waiting for a long time to see this model. I managed to download it last night, but i haven't yet had a chance to try it out in MSTS, can't wait to get home.

If Mark does not intend to do any more work for MSTS, i shall have to obtain his permission to repaint the 37. As a project, i'd like to create every livery the 37's carried, or even every single 37.. yes, all 300 odd!
Cheers,

I have already just completed the 308th repaint of them - but someone said they didn't all have split headcode panels? Or that could just be a nasty rumour!

I know - but I am being nice to 37's in the hope that a certain person will do a nice 33 cab view for us! :)

I for one wene i saw marks 37 hoped this was a road to recovery for him.As iv seen no spread on this i won,t assume anything but do wish him all the best and hopefully he can resume at his excellent models and will wait on any news of his class 52, but time is they say a great healer.

I've finally managed to install and take a look at that beauty. Magnificent. In my opinion the best loco ever made (both in real life and in MSTS).

Nooo, i'm not being biased...

To mark this occasion, i will be releasing a newer 37 cab that i have had in the pipeline and the 37 sounds. I'm currently having a few troubles with the sounds and the new loco, they don't seem to wish to loop correctly. It seems that some changes are in order.

One question, Does anyone else find that the 37 wheelslips if you try and accelrate too quickly, and the breaks are very ineffective? I'm not sure if its something i've made a mistake with or if its standard.

I once drove a pair between Basingstoke and Salisbury off a nightshift in Loco Control when I managed to get 37138 and 37238 onto the 0745 Basingstoke - Exeter as far as Salisbury (37138 was on a very circuitous route to Ilford for Load bank Testing!) and stopping and starting at the intermediate stations was a nightmare - and there was lots of slipping!

Thanks, exactly what i was looking for. As soon as i download new things i tend to have to play with their files. In this case, i wasn't sure if i'd caused any problems. I am aware of the wheelslip and breaking effects of the locos, but i also seemed to be having trouble with sounds looping which made me think that maybe one or two values were a little off.

Thanks again.

I will admit that my inexperience with a Class 37 was contributory to the problem and that I tended to at first open the throttle very gingerly but as it was having no effect, I stepped it up and the loco's tried to shoot forward and overloaded and the fault light was constantly flashing as the wheels were trying to get a grip - the route from Basingstoke to Salisbury also suffers from lots of trees and it was that time of year if I remember - certainly it as still very gloomy at 0745 when we set off. They were fine once we had got the train moving but I don't think the passengers had the most comfortable of rides, moreso from there being no train heat till the loco's came off at Salisbury!

The .eng file for Mark's 37 has been set up to give maximum tractive effort (55,500lbf) when starting with 25% throttle. This also corresponds to 1500A on the ammeter (GP38 cab). If you exceed this you'll get the wheelslip indication and tractive effort will drop to zero. This simulates an overload trip (MSTS doesn't have an overload trip feature, but this is a reasonable substitute). To recover, you need to close the throttle and start again, and be a bit more careful (just like the real thing!). If you try it in the rain or snow you'll find that wheelslip occurs at a lower throttle setting, and you have less tractive effort. In the dry you can use 100% throttle from about 10mph upwards.

The brakes have been set up to give correct deceleration.

Thanks Stuart!

I'm so used to playing with loco's that don't handle correctly, that when i finally get my hands on something that works like the real thing it feels odd to me.

You'll get problems with the train brakes if, for example, you haul air-braked stock with a vacuum-braked loco. Changing the .eng file to air braked (as Mark describes in his readme file) should sort out the problems.
