Shape View 2.2.237 Installation Problem

I've just downloaded and installed the latest Shape Viewer (after uninstalling the previous one first).

It seems to install okay but when I go to run it I get a "Run-time error 429 - You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality."

I'm running XP Home SP2.

Any ideas?

I get an error 1316 message when I try to install; this is not covered in the Steam4me document

Tony,
Make sure that you've used "add / Remove" programs to uninstall any previous version, before installing the latest one.

I googled (google is a "VERY USEFUL search ENGINE") "1316 error message msi" and found this information (2nd hit):

Firstly, Get the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from microsoft.com.

Microsoft has updated the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. With the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, you can remove a program’s Windows Installer configuration information. You may want to remove the Windows Installer configuration information for your program if you experience installation (Setup) problems. For example, you may have to remove a program’s Windows Installer configuration information if you have installation problems when you try to add (or remove) a component of your program that was not included when you first installed your program.

So, what the hell, I tried it. I mean, what can possibly go wrong, go wrong, go Wrong, go wrong,go wrONg, wo grnog, gg wnrpon..fdgh;lk;hobkd'plkh,;bbdlkngmfn hlfgnh %%%$#%$^&%^%&&*&**&............???????

I uninstalled Shape Viewer via the Add/Remove Section in Control Panel.

When I ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, it found bits of 225 still there even though I'd uninstalled 227 (and b225 last year before b227) this morning and installed 237 this morning (AU time).

I selected Shape Viewer, clicked on "remove", then got this:

Rubbing my rabbit's foot (not that it did the rabbit much good!) I clicked "ok". It was all over in a twinkling of an eye. I ran the SV22.msi and SV is running perfectly.

Therefore I conclude that on my PC, the utility works as designed. YMMV*, however. If your PC is still working after all this, please do let me know and I'll add it to the steam4me page as well.

HTH.

I did a further clean up and searched for and removed all bits of previous Shape Viewer. New version now OK

Yuri! - great to see you're back.
Sorry I didn't send over a copy, I thought you were still recuperating.

Nice to have you around again.

Hi All,
Just to add my experience.

I moved the whole SView folder to my Backup drive, (once bitten). Then after clicking Setup.exe used the 'remove' option from the repair/remove popup that showed. Then followed the install procedure. Every thing works fine, even fixed the close after screenshot on ConBuilder. Although I did have to reset the path in ConBuilder.

I installed right overthe top of the old version and only had to reset Shape Viewer folder option.
