A Hard Drive Caddy.

Post by dipper6 »

This may, or may not, be of interest so I thought I'd post it.

I use Vista for all my PC work - except for MSTS, where I use XP 'cos the Cab controller will not work in Vista & it never will, PI people refuse to make a driver.

Just before Xmas past I was in http://www.kustompcs.co.uk and no, I'm not advertising or am I connected with them in any way except as a customer. I spotted it, ordered one, received it, I liked it so much I got another for spare.

This is dual booting made easy.
A tray is not used, just slide the drive in and out.
I have e.g. my Vista HD in the caddy, I want to run MSTS, I turn the key, open the door,
gently pull out the hdrive, insert the XP drive, close the door, then lock it. All of 10 seconds.
Then I'm away with MSTS, it really is so easy & simple.
No more messing around getting a dual boot to work. I did try dual boot some months ago with Vista & XP & I got it to work, but I use True Image to back up my OS etc. However, when I did a restore the dual boot did not work.
It fits into a CD / DVD drive bay on the front of the case.
SATA only.

For anyone interested I recommend it heartily.

Have a good day.
