Automatic derailment

While running activity, the activity shuts down at the same general place every time with the 'car derailed' balloon. Activity is download # 16175, CW Richmond and Hounslow Circular on the Dorset Coast Route v.4. The derailment happens EVERY time somewhere between Clapham Jct. and Wandsworth Town stations. It happens regardless of the speed and regardless of the speed over the points entering and leaving Clapham Jct. station. Once it even happened while still standing in Clapham Jct. station. It does NOT happen if I use the same equipment on the same path in Explore Route mode. Any hints?

It sounds like you are describing a derailment of an AI train somewhere out of sight. Not sure of the easiest way of finding it though.

Oh, beautiful! I'm sure I could find the AI derailment cause eventually, but it would take eliminating one AI from the activity at a time. And I spend too much time on MSTS now!
Thanks.

If you have MSTSbin try zooming the camera way up high in the sky.
You might just see the derailment.

Although the VCR function in the Activity Editor is not much use for the Player Train, it is quite good at displaying the AI traffic - it should show up a collision between AI trains, which is the usual cause of this type of problem.
It's certainly worth a try at x8 or x16 speed before you start deleting things.
Best wishes

HI there,
Peter's approach is the same way that I would tackle the problem. Study the activity in VCR mode in the activity editor and ignore the player train.

my activity - my bad
It is an AI derailment and has been reported before. I did have a fix for it, but have lost it (2 days ago my harddrive failed so ive lost everything)
i can suggest, run the activity in msts, note down the time (in the sim) that the derailment happens, run the activity then in activity editor, set it to that time or just before, and see which bits of traffic in the area are the culprits and then remove em from the traffic file.
Sorry i cant be more help.

Hi Everyone, just a quick note to say I have found the problem and it is not a collision
between two moving Trains but one Service train being generated while another one
hasn't moved away.
The Service File to look at is the CW_swtclap_wat and in the Traffic Folder there are
7 of these are at the following times.
09:40:00
09:44:00
09:48:00
09:55:00
10:01:00
10:56:00
11:00:00
Looking in A.E. and zooming in at the area where they start from, the first goes after
stopping at Clapham Junction onto Waterloo.
The second stops at Clapham Junction and stops at a Red and so when the third one
is generated it never moves and so the collision occurs when the fourth one is created.
So I just deleted the fourth and then the fifth, sixth and seventh one in case they gave
the same trouble later on.
I saved the Activity and managed to complete the run without any bother, I did notice that
when returning to Clapham that stuck train had gone and so I will look at the Activity
again later on and see if the 10:56:00 and 11:00:00 can be put back in without causing
any trouble.

Hi Carl, I'm doing your Desiro Days Work Activities, couldn't you have picked some better weather
for No.2.
I've lost track of the number of Activities that don't work on mine due to it's faster processor and
so a simple delay of 1min. in the Start Time of an earlier AI Train usually cures it.
I've learnt to look at all reasons for the collision of Trains and over 80% are caused by one Train
cannot be placed because of a previous Train not moving on.
When this occurs, it pays to run the Activity in the VCR mode in A.E. from the time of the first AI
Train and not the start time of the Activity, this highlights any service Trains that are giving trouble.
