NVIDIA GForce 2 MX Display Drivers for Windows XP
In upgrading my system, I have just installed Windows XP and reinstalled MSTS, but it hung after running for a couple of minutes (Acela on NEC). I expect it will be display driver problems, so I am downloading the Detonator 30.30 drivers from guru3d.com right now.
What drivers are other XP users using?

The sound is on-board VIA AC'97 using Apollo KT133A chipset. I picked up v5.12.1.381 drivers from the VIA site which appear to be the latest.
It was all fine under Windows 98. The frame rates under XP seem a bit better though, but then I have not reinstalled all the clag that had built up over time, and was probably throttling the system.

Hi
You can get the latest drivers all you want but they sometimes do not do the trick.
I must state I do not use WinXP, but have experienced this problem many times on Win98.
I am not familiar with XP so I will give the Win98 explanation, maybe you can find your way to it in XP.
In control panel go to Mutlimedia and select the top audio tab.
It will give 2 options....Playback and recording, choose Advanced options on the playback and click on the performance tab. In here it has a Hardware Acceleration sliding bar. If sound is iffy lower the setting from max(default) to a lower setting.
I have found out on many Win98 systems this has sorted out the problem.
Again, Im not familiar with XP.
Try and find similar settings on XP.
Jonnie.

exshunter ,you have to completely uninstall all previous driver versions and then reboot your machine.Then do a clean install of 40.41.
I had the same problem initially,so i mailed nvidia for a solution.
Im not a big fan of onboard sound chips,Ian.So never having used them (mine is disabled) i can`t comment or make a judgement on yours.
regards,
IKB.

Thanks for that tip jonnie, it has improved it, but its not gone away completely. Might have to bung in a separate sound card.
IKB, is the GForce4 card worth getting? I saw your comments about the lines on your cab screenshots.
(btw in XP to get to the sound hardware accellaration control I did:
Start -> Control Panel
Sounds,Speech and Audio Devices
Sounds and Audio Devices
Audio tab
Sound Playback 'Advanced' button
)

Ian,definately worth getting.I had a geforce2 400 mx 64mg before getting it.The performance premium is amazing (and thats with it being restricted to 2xAGP with my low end mobo)
The lines problem only appeared with the latest driver versions,no problems with the earlier versions. But im sticking with 40.41 because of the performance improvement overall.
