Problems with Thames Mersey & NWE V2.1
Yesterday I recieved Thames Mersey, Yorkshire Coast Railway and North West England V2.1. Train Simulator loads up OK with Yorkshire Coast Railway but if it has Thames Mersey and/or NWE V2.1 in the ROUTES folder in Train Simulator, the game only goes as far as the initial loading page before freezing. Even getting rid of the preset routes (EUROPE 1 & 2, USA 1 & 2 and JAPAN 1 & 2), MSTS will still not load. I'm looking for a way round it, please can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi ziggyshadowdust?
The Default routes must always be installed!
YCR is a very good route and has nothing wrong with it but it is older and may have over writen the TSection.dat files.
Try downloading and installing the latest TSection from the top of the main UKTS Screen. This will not hurt anyway.
Let us know how you get on.

Yes.
However, in this case the problem is likely to be MSTS being overloaded. Did you install Trainstore that is on the Thames Mersey DVD ? If you haven't installed and stored most of the stock and activities then MSTS will take about 25 minutes to load on an average system due to the huge amount of paths, services and stock it will read on start up.
This is all covered in a number of threads in the forums - a quick search will give you dozens of threads where people ask this very question and then get detailed answers.

It is also a good idea to check each route separately with Route Riter before adding another one. If you have added a lot of routes allat once, then tracing faults is much more difficult.

I have it up right now. It says 'Train Store V3.2 files will be installed in the following directory'. C:\Program Files\J A Formoso\Train Store. Is that right? Or does it go in Train Simulator?

Re: Problems with Thames Mersey & NWE V2.1
Right, I done that. Now I'm trying to open it and it's asking me if I want Train Store to automatically select the MSTS folders path from the existing MSTS info. Where do I go from there?
Re: Problems with Thames Mersey & NWE V2.1
Unless you install things in non-standard locations...ie deliberately change where things are put....then "go with the flow" and answer whatever way is indicated as the default option.

Re: Problems with Thames Mersey & NWE V2.1
It worked initially though Train Store was a nuisance (if I wanted a different route or a different consist I had to quit MSTS to do so), but now I'm back to square one. Last night, first it got beyond the loading screen but the options on the main MSTS page were inactive, then it was on the initial loading screen for a few seconds for MSTS shut down. And it still won't load up after re-installing and uninstalling. After college I'm trying installing MSTS again but with no Thames Mersey (including Train Store) and NWE V2.1. Nine quid up the swanee. And on my birthday too.

I don't see how you figure it is Nine quid up the swanee.
With a little patience, reading of the manual, asking questions here and following the advice given it will work. I have far more routes than that loaded and by following simple procedures when installing and running things I have never failed to get something working.
Having everything greyed out on the MSTS menu implies absolutely everything was stored in Trainstore.

Just because it has been said many times before, won't stop me saying it again - uninstalling and reinstalling MSTS won't sort out your problems, unless you completely delete your Train Simulator folder. And if you do delete it you will lose all you added routes, stock and activities - every time!
The beauty of Trainstore in Easy Mode is that it doesn't take much time to shut down MSTS, choose another activity in Trainstore and start MSTS again. If you are not sure how to do that, please ask

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Well thankyou for your kind advice, but I'm still sceptical. And the nine quid is how much I paid for Thames Mersey and Northwest England V2.1 together from Atomic Systems.
Furthermore, when I go to MSTS Editors & Tools, I open it, select a route, name activity, and bang it crashes. I found what I think is the consist editor in Train Store but it did . all.

Re: Problems with Thames Mersey & NWE V2.1
Before you go into the editors, change your screen colour quality to 16 bit, it will work then.
There is nothing wrong with TM, and NWE, I have both and they both work fine.

Both the routes with which you are having problems are large and if, like me, you do not have a state of the art computer, you may find that you wll have to reduce the settongs for Graphics etc. in MSTS. for these routes
In Train Store Easy option select a small route and activity and start MSTS - it should start OK
In the Options screen at the start of MSTS select Display and lower the level towards best performance by 2 notches. Now close MSTS go back to Train Store Easy and select an activity in, say NWE and see if that runs. If it does, it may be trial and error to see how high you can set the graphics quality before trouble sets in. You can change the graphics setting while running an activity by saving it and going to the options panel when restarting with the saved activity
