Another case of the community biting the hand that fed it.
And yes, it is a case of give and take, but the bottom line is content creators can live without the community (especially if they decide they've had enough and move on to other interests like Andy D has) a lot better than the community can live without content creators.
Otherwise you end up with a community which spends its life repainting 4 year old models, without anything really new coming along, oh actually that sounds familiar to a degree.

Re: Now Hang On A Minute!
I would have thought that in any case Andy D would need to be sought to obtain permissions anyway, you might not be touching his model but you are placing it somewhere and/or distributing it via some means.
Unless it specifically states that it's not requested, *everyone* involved in an item must be contacted and if *any* of them say no then the item can't be included unless that component is removed and replaced. A reskinner cannot grant permission on behalf of the model author (or vice versa for that matter) unless they have already pre-agreed it. If you are going to create a derivative or compiled work based on someone elses, then email everyone you can see is involved, and while you're asking them for permission ask if they are aware of anyone else you should be asking. Never assume that a permission has been granted, assume that it has *NOT*.
Those Mark 2's are dead in the water because as far as I am aware Mark Wiles and Andy Dunnett would simply not grant permission for their originals nor anything derived to be included on a CD of ours (they're don't exactly consider me their best mate) or at least not as far as I am aware anyway, certainly until you *had* those there would be little point contacting anyone else.
It's a load of work to make extra sure this is correct and done properly but if you don't this is the kind of situation that you end up with, CD's being withdrawn and pages on pages of unpleasantness.
On the other side of the coin, if you are an author who finds that your work has been used on a CD but you haven't been approached then your first port of call is to email your complaint directly to me so that it can be dealt with. I take these things very seriously and this is the only time that this kind of thing has gone haywire like this in amongst several previous mishaps, everyone else has gone away happy that either their item has been removed or they have received whatever changes etc that they were looking for.
Matt.

And complaints to myself or any other moderator.

Re: Now Hang On A Minute!
I will just add one further post to this, apologies to Glyn.
Mark Wiles has written to me and asked me to set the record straight regarding my comment about Mark and Andy not considering me "their best mate".
He has asked me to clarify that he has absolutely no issue with me personally.
Mark, please accept my apologies.
All i'll say in my defense is that i'm having a real tripe time of it at work at the moment and probably most of what i should say should be self-censored before I even hit the post button at the moment.
