System Trouble
Found what might be causing the lag i get ingame.
Now although there is a virus program and zone alarm running, switching either off has no effect on this wierd thing that happens. See here. My system is idle and yet i get a performance graph like that.
Ive run both upto date virus scans and defragging on all drives. Anything else that could cause this effect? on an idle pc.

I do have MS OFfice installed and would be quite keen to know how to turn find fast off.
Also about the printer, that could also be the problem, but then this problem has only started recently and ive had my printer ages.
Ive managed to reduce it by about half (half the peaks, not have the cpu power), but running ad-ware to trace out any dodgy stuff. It only picked up cookies but it still had at least some effect on this dodgy thing thats happening to my system.

I found out my problem was parallel port related by using the system performance tools on Windows XP. It was rather time-consuming, but allowed the identification of exactly what was causing the spikes. If you do a search on google groups you might find people who have had similar probs.
Good Luck

Hi
Sometimes you cannot whack a good system format, gets rid of all the ., yes you may well have to install everything again, but it saves all the hassle with problems etc.
Like me back up your trains folder in MSTS, saves you installing all the models again if MSTS is run from your C: drive (bad idea anyways).
I experienced an alomost unexplainable slow down in system performance once, took ages to open windows explpoer even,, I looked into everything, and came to the conclusion it was screwed and formatted my comp, all was well after that.

Hi
After looking at your graphs, I see you XP, I dont use it and if something in XP is causing this...........I draw a blank.
I always say after a system format put things back on gradually, and see how your system performs, if it then goes bad you can identify a program that may be causing a problem.
Beleive it or not I used a bit of CD Writing software called Prassi CD, makes your D-Rs work like a floppy, just copy stuff across and it copies.
This actually caused problems with ones CD Writer and Scanner and caused slow down, why I dont know, but never used it again.
