Hello. I am hoping someone can assist me with an issue in MSTS.
When loading some 3rd party routes that I have downloaded MSTS crashes and gives me a region loading error. The error occurs during the loading of the route at the stage where it tries to load the user interface for the route.
This doesn't happen on all 3rd party routes. Only some. I have also verified the routes are correctly installed (batch files run) and even reinstalled these routes. No effect.
On some other routes that it loads successfully I notice that the button text is missing on the 'save, exit, return' window (when you hit escape during an activity).
I have reinstalled MSTS with no effect.
This started happening after I downloaded and installed some trains. But this should have no effect on the routes. I have close to 1000 trains and about 40 routes so perhaps MSTS is getting bogged down loading all this at start up. It does take awhile to start up.
Has anyone had an issue similar to this? Does anyone have any ideas on what can be done to resolve this?
The only thing I can think of is to redownload the route and reinstall.

text missing off the buttons is a classic symptom of the bug that manifests if you have more than 899 consists. I'd suggest grabbing route-riter to analyse activities and see if any are not used, these can then be deleted; if you need to reduce further you will need to remove some activities and services, then remove the (now unused) consists.

Thanks asalmon. I will delete some consists and see if that helps. I do have some 'test' consists and such that can go.

With that many routes you might want to divide them into "sets". Each set needs a Route folder and a Trains folder. These are then swapped in and out (by dragging and dropping) of the Train Simulator folder. Grouping by country works the best since then you need only one copy of each piece of rolling stock. Theres a more detailed post of how to do this somewhere else on the forums. Let me know if you can't find it. It certainly works for me.

Let me see if I understand this.
I should move all of the routes outside of the train sim folder and then group them by country. Then when I want to run a certain route I just copy the country (all of its routes) I want to run into train sim routes folder??
Then when I am done I can remove the routes for that country from the routes folder and throw in another country.
This seems to make sense because it would cut down on the number of activities (and consists) that train sim has to load.
I will try that. Some of my routes do load alot of consists (loose, player, trarffic). This sounds like it will solve the issue.
Thanks alot for the help.

Thanks to latimers and ortegus regarding the 'tidying up' of routes. I follow what has been said, but am having a bit of trouble in the execution, and would like to see the article on how to do it (successfully) that latimers refers to. I have done a search of the forums but am not sure what to search for - predictably 'Routes' brought up a quite a lot of entries.
Any help would be appreciated, many thanks in advance.
