Does anyone know when Mark will be back and with his 37's?

Its begining to look like I wont able to go back to modleing, I think I wave full blown RSI, anything more that a few miuntes at the PC is vey uncomfortable. I have hardly used my PC at all for a month but my arms are not any better. I'm surprised to find that I havnt really missed MSTS at all, there seems to be plenty to do away from the PC, I was initially frustrated at not being able to finish the 37's, if my arms do recover before I have forgotten all about MSTS then I may finish it to a point where it can be released.

Well Mark that is a "real" shame but at the end of the day your health is more important and I as well I'm sure as the rest of the UKTS community wish you well hoping that you stick around whether or not you decide to carry on.

SteveS.

Just a thought here.....if you can't carry on modelling any possibility that
someone else could carry on with the 37 there's some talanted people out there and it would be a shame to see the model go to waste.

Hi Mark,
As you work in a 'medical' environment haven't you got access to some people who know how to help with RSI???
I don't use diesels at all but I see your work of quality and can appreciate that your contributions will bemissed.
Good luck...
Georges

p.s. Still got the 2 cd's you burnt for me that I collected from your central London workplace...

Mark,

Even if you decide not to do any more modelling (and of course you health is far more important) it would be great if you still kept visiting the forums even if just for a chat. You have been an inspiration to many modellers (myself included)

Mark

I'm very sorry to hear of your illness. Recovering your health is very much the top priority, and I trust you'll take sound medical advice on the best way to overcome the pain. All the best.

Mark Shipman... a legendary MSTS name if ever there was one. I'm very sorry to hear of your problem. I hope you find a way of sorting it out some time soon and can get back to your computer when YOU want to and are not resigned to only being able to post when you feel good enough.

I am interested though as I work on a computer nearly 40 hours a week and then go home and do more... how long have you been a regular computer user, and how long did it take this RSI to set in as badly as it has?

Just wanted to add our best wishes for a full recovery for you Mark - as I mentioned before, Nikki (WeatherGirl) suffered from RSI when she was a PA to the MD of a company in Surrey and it caused her no end of trouble for a number of years - so much so that it stopped her working until this year. The pain is indescribable to someone who hasn't suffered it or been close to someone who has - we take it for granted when we bash away on the PC, but it hits home when you struggle to hold a cup of coffee or the pain shoots through your arms so badly all you want to do is scream and cry. In the end, medication and miccrowaved heat packs were the only things that worked for a while (I wish they made the heat packs so that they don't smell so bad, still I found some stuff to put on them in Scotland once that made them smell of lavender rather than boiled oats !). Anyway, take care and even if you don't get back to modelling, We both hope you can get over the problems that it causes.

Mark, your models are a triumph for MSTS, and show real quality, and an incredible eye for detail. It is a shame that you may not be able to complete the next addition to your fabulous portfolio of models, but as many have said before me, health is of the upmost importance, and i, as well as many others, want to wish you a speedy recovery.

It'll be great to see your face around here occasionally, as if you don't, you'll be sorely missed...

All the best..

What is RSI? Sounds like a supporting beam or something technical like that...

RSI= Repetetive Strain Injury.

Common versions are Tennis Elbow, Housemaid's Knee and Route-Maker's Grimace.

Seriously though, it's a bloody awful thing that happens if you perform the same wierd action time after time after time. It's becoming very common nowadays because of the number of hours that people spend pushing mice around and typing. Apparently a common early sign of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (very common type of RSI and popular amongst computer users) is a tingling in the arm and stiffness in the shoulder as well as an achein the hand when resting. It is most commonly first found in the mouse controller hand.
