Alot of people deserve a big 'Thankyou' from us all, dont you all think so?

For all the route makers, train makers, re-skinners, activity creators, you name it and of course this site. Because if it wasnt for these people, MSTS might have died of death.

It would have for me anyways.
Just a big thankyou to you all, who just keep doing what you do, to keep people like me happy with good old everything.

That such a huge amount of MSTSadd ons would be available for download would have seemed unbelievable a year ago.
The standards are being pushed forward all the time and those of you that have given your time and energy to achieving this have my appreciation

Being a bit controversial .... Microsoft and Kuju provided the basis for the enthusiasm

To be honest I was very sceptical that a train-sim would work.

OK the default isn't much but that went for flightsim for years.

It was made to be improved upon and it certainly has been 8)
Cheers

You actually have a point there, if it wasn't for them there would be none of this (I often wonder what this site would be like if Kuju had done a good job on their stuff).

I think everyone who builds stuff deserves some thanks, even if there models are still poor (such as Kim's 1st models the 31 and 20) they still played a part in the development of MSTS. Well done all builders (I suppose I could be included in this ;)).

Well I would like to thank a lot of people that have produced freeware addons that for me at least (and probably a lot of others) have genuinely made MSTS "as real as it gets". Particular thanks in this regard to Rob for his fantastic GNER route, Pat Dalton for his S&C 1930, Steve Pontin for his Tallyllyn route (also Kevin Martin for the locos!) and Gordon MacKenzie for his particularly impressive Ruabon - Llangollen - Bala route which dropped on my doormat this morning! Oh and all the people that have built a shedload of locos.

To be honest I'm amazed theres been such a big freeware effort - and hardly any commercial effort for UK stock at all. Competition must be too good for 'em!

You can't do good modellers for enough!

Too all Model, Route and Activity providers,

It is true, we the community cannot thank you enough for the fine models and the many hours spent producing your incredible work, for rest of us to download.

Also thank you for the helpful tips & responses, to keep us clueless nubies on track. I am not one to join in the forums much (a little shy really), but having written to some of the model creators via personal e-mail when having problems and have always received a speedy and helpful reponse.

I cannot thank you all enough. Tandy :-?

this is true. i think it's kept me sane, throughout the trauma of being completely unable to find a job (not even asda are recruiting). gives me something to do when i'm not writing app forms.

anyway, a big "cheersh" to all those who made it possible to waste so long pretending to be a train driver! yes, even kuju. doesn't this show how much can be done with slightly sub standard tools, so let's see if they can make good tools next time round!

I think it would not be commercially viable to make MSTS add-ons. I was in touch with 'Fozzy Bear' re his K36 American locomotives and he estimates about 1000 hours went into building them.

In my own case, writing Route-Riter has involved several hundred hours work. For this I have had about 3000 downloads. From past experience, maybe 5 percent, say 150 would have registered the program if I was lucky. The rest would 'get a copy from a friend', and within a few weeks it would appear on some site somewhere as a 'free download'.

On the whole it is easier just to give the stuff away.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

I agree for the most part. It would be nice to make a little money off the downloads this site produces, but i'm not all that sure i'd really want to charge people that i know almost personally.
Cheers,
