Tim's Excellent Trans Pennine unit

Post by ollie »

Hi all,

Firstly thanks to Tim for his excellent 124.
I already have it dragging the blue 105 around (as 8 car) as they frequently did on the busier services.

Its nice to see this model as i used to see them most days.

I think the exhaust is about accurate for these units in the late 70's..

Thanks again Tim , much appreciated,

Ollie

Ollie,

Thanks for the compliment, htis was my first TSM train project, I'll be making the Trailer brake second to go with this set since in the later days they had the engines removed and went from NDMBS to TBSK.

Should have that done by the weekend.

Will also be doing the Swindon 3 car driving ends for the scottish units too!

Played with the exhausts so you got different amounts for the DMC and NDMBS units.

Tim, that model is absaloutlly superb

Its even got the right amount of . pouring out of the exhausts which most "heritage" DMUs do

I love that touch :D

This is what the passengers at peterbough will be like when i go through on a non stop :drinking:

They are right, you are a spy

Not only are you a brilliant route engineer but also a DMU creater as well (any chance of a 108??)

Made both driving cars with different exhaust settings since I had seen these pulling out of Leeds with one with a small amount and the others pouring it out so thought I would give it a go.

There will be other driving cars and stock uploaded for the swindon series, these are going to get ugly but I may as well do the rest now the hard one is finished!

Green 124 coming in a few days time.

its very dark driving at night. Did they not have headlights? There is a switch in the cabview but it does sod all. Difficult to see speed limits etc!!!
Should there be lights, or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

John: Did you ever see a transpennine unit go full blast out of leeds?

I did the exhaust as I had seen them in the past - might tweak it down for the nice new green one.

Crosscountry:

I am toying with headlights and will issue a mod and updated model, just need to work out the technicalities - this was my first TSM Train project so give me a bit of time to get my self in gear. :)

don't tweak the exhausts..they look great.
Don't let me make you feel harrased. Its a great job. I might have a go myself.
Would I be wrong if I said that a bit of tweaking to the non powered cars would give us Mk2C coaches?

The non powered cars are more like MK1's if you wanted to tweak but the side profile is too bulbous for the MK1's and the ends are too Falt for a mk 2

I will leave the coaching stock to the professionals but wouldnt mind a Crack at the XP64 stock if anyone has drawings of those.

Got the 126 etc to do from the same stock yet though

He's already put route builders to shame... now he's taking over the modelling too!

Is this a hostile takeover :fist: ?
