I had a quick browse of the freebie version. Indeed it seems to be predominently American but I guess this is to be expected. The thought occurs that were not a huge number of American railfans there would likely be no MSTS.

As far as the English market goes, I do not buy railway modeller and the like on a regular basis. Were any of these magazines to start to devote part of there content to the virtual railway scene then I would seriously consider buying them.

What that content would be is open to debate but I would like to see freeware route reviews (the commercial sector being more than adequately scrutinised by Matt) as well as guides to what is available where, maybe even tutorials although again, we are well catered for in this department.

It may be that publishers are reluctant to risk alieniting their current readership but it does seem that a golden opportunity to increase sales is being overlooked.

Train simulator monthly anyone?

Perhaps a few of us should get together and write up a E-Magazine for UK Train Sim fans, maybe a news service. I have had some experience with this in the past, anyone remember FSINN would know I was the European Editor in Chief.

good idea. I could do old loco (not steam) reports and my son Andy Ward could do the modern ones.

I think we need to bombard matt with this one and have it hosted here, there is loads of UK content as well as continental stuff too, I know Ian M is into things european and there is more than enough talent here to create quite a nice read methinks, downloadable in PDF would be nice too!

well i'd prefer a paper one! but logistically that would be pointless, so i'm all behind TSMonthly or whatever. so long as i can print it! (i can't read anything on a computer screen)

And it could include the things I wanted when I first started... A list of great first downloads, and FAQ with the latest info and an update page telling of all the latest versions of particular downloads. I.e: I have a Train Artisan steamer, and have had for ages... it's only because someone told me of the included cabview that I thought to look and then download a version a good three months newer than the one I was driving.

Also a few timetables or expected services on the tracks we have so far wouldn't go amiss.

I'm looking forward to this magazine already. ;)

Perhaps it could be the an improved AVROUK, steve has an idea that it'll close down.

Unless anyone has other ideas?

Yup.. Avrouk is basically going to close, at Xmas, as there has been a sharp decrease in the amount of things we can do with it.

However, following a chat with Eddy (South coast Trains), it could be able to host the site on Avrouk Servers - im not sure if i've posted a image on here of the server, it's in some forums, but it is trusty (old P1!)

Regards :)
