Atomic Systems

I know there's a few 317's that was uploaded in the last year or so mainly in One livery, now I've never had the pleasure of seeing a 210 but seeing as they are both more or less externally similar except half of one leading coach is taken up by the engine room, is it possible someday for one to make a appearance alongside the other DEMU's on UKTS.

On a other note, does anyone know the reason for the vents on the carriage ends of the 317/1's currently on the Great Northern?, I think they are however now 317/3's.

Looking at the photo and wikipedia. The driving trailer end and the centre cars are used in a Class 455 while the 2 motor cars were scrapped.

On the upside note though. I am sure someone could reskin the 455 to a DEMU and add clag by adding exhaust outlets to the motor car end .

The vents on the carriage ends you describe also appear on the 455/7 & 455/8 and I think are connected with the pressure ventilation system. This is why on these classes that one end of the carriage has a lower ceiling.

I Might do on a 455 model. Might do a complete one as only 2 were built.

Ooh.........a 210 would be great. ..........a PEP would be nice too.

I think there was a 3 car set and a 4 car set built if I'm right?

I am into prototype trains in reality so I would welcome it and definately download it too!

I was wondering about the 210, if they mated a 156 or a 158 engine system to a 317 which had it's ohl equipment removed, would that have been more successful then the original one? I know a lot of work would have to go into it though and it would only be used as a test train but it would be worth it just tosee if it could be done,

I think that concept would have been successful but if you look at the Class 150/0 prototype sprinter. There is a similar idea already present on this train even though it is a 3 piece unit rather than a 4 piece unit. I am suprised that they didn't try a four-piece DMU set back then because I think it would have been successful on the highly crowded routes in the West Midlands and Manchester areas. Just a thought though. As adtranz make the Class 170 in 2 and 3 piece units. Why don't they introduce a Class 172 4 piece unit because they have a 4 piece Class 357 which to me looks basically like a Class 170 but an electric version .

If you are doing a 210, if you use class 455, you will have third rail shoe, if you use class 317, you wont have a dome and horn on the top. (Carl Westwood did the old class 317/0 with out dome and horn one year ago.) You may want to blank windows on the power cars. I may do a 210 soon. Or can you?

210001 are 4 cars while class 210002 are 3 cars
