Depends if you have any additional routes or locos. A default installation is about 2.5GB; worst-case is 2G per additional route (route-riter and/or route control can reduce this), each additional loco is a meg or two.

So, on the face of it; that's quite a small installation you have there! :) I had to buy a new Hard Drive for MSTS.

Depends on what you've got in it. Mine is 2.4 GB with all the defaults, Pat Dalton's S&C 1930s and a small test route.

Yeah i think i need route riter, cos ive only got about 200 locos/rolling stock. Its the additional routes that ive added that are taking up the space.

If you use route-riter, do follow the instructions, and back up first!

My MSTS folder is 5 gig too. I don't have that many non-default routes, i think it may be 3. All the rest is taken up by my locos and rolling stock.

So far: 9.94GB of MSTS directories, and 5.26GB of downloads!

I too bought a nice big shiny HDD specifically for this!

My installation is only a "mere" 3.8 gigs. I have a few extra routes and enough rolling stock to give a decent amount of variety. The main problem that I am now having is that as my computer is fairly low spec (700 meg celeron, 138 megs of Ram, 10 gig hard drive), it now takes an eternity to load anything. Since at present an upgrade is beyond budget, I will delete the whole lot when Mideast UK comes out and start again with some different routes and trains.

I do need to learn how to edit the registry as this would probably speed things up a bit.

Dave.

10Gb is about my total as well - this contains 4.2Gb of Woodhead 2 development backups in about 40 ZIP files!!!

My 10Gb is ALREADY on its own 2nd HD - there's 18Gb left to play with!
